Hello everyone! Following the release of 5.0 Fire and Fortune, the development team is intending to carry out a number of promotional activities across social media. This will include pictures and videos on Reddit, Imgur and Lemmy, as well as an overhaul of our ModDB page.
We've posted this shot from the recent Dark Frontier event on Imgur as a test pilot of sorts, with a sales pitch of the mod's features. We're already up to 16k views, so the community upvotes and comments certainly seem to be helping to get things seen!
We're going to need your help with this however. We want to show off the best that this mod and community has to offer, and would like to commission pictures, videos, gifs and other promotional material from all of you.
We're looking for artistic screenshots that showcase recent mod developments or features, as well as live server shots showing dramatic or exciting player activity. We're offering a starting bounty of $150,000 for each image we use, with discretionary bonuses on top of that for particularly impressive examples!
The kinds of images that would be great to have should also show off the current state of Discovery's story. Examples could include a wing of Mollys passing the Graves Wreck or destroyed New London Jump Gate. A Corsair battlegroup patrolling near Omicron Theta. A Kusari relief convoy headed to Planet Kyushu. Hessians and Rheinland Military clashing in Dresden.
Sky space is the limit!
Additionally, we'll be looking to commission a new promotional Discovery trailer, which should be a short video that really highlights the best we have to offer. We haven't settled on an exact prize for this, but we'd like it to be something a little more exciting than credits!

Don't.
First fix the problems with the new patch.
And fix those problems with the disco mod and the disco community that are actually easy to fix, if you just finally decided to do it.
THEN advertise the mod and community.
If you advertise now, the exact same thing that happened every patch will inevitably happen again:
A momentary spike in activity, and then people will leave again for the exact same reasons they left before, and you will have driven off yet another part of the people who theoretically would love to play multiplayer Freelancer.
A few new shiny features, the unreasonable nerfs of some mod features, and the self-praise some devs have covered themselves in in the latest "patch when" threads isn't going to change that.
