Research Team Arcturus Subject Researched: Baxter-Type Anomaly within Kansas
Expedition Length: 9 Hours
Having a look at our ship, the exterior has been slightly burnt due to radiation and flying too close to one of the suns in one of the previous systems we have visited. Norfolk Shipyard in New York had the facilities to repair the Arcturus. While the repairs were being completed, I have read through the cartography reports Halpert has sent out to home base. One such anomaly is present within the Kansas system. This is where our journey around Sirius will take us next.
Upon entry into Kansas, the system's orbital layout is familiar. Certain elements remain the same when compared to Omicron Lost and Omega-11. An oversized sun with a long-diameter corona. Fields, stations and other entities circle the giant sun. Once our systems were green from jumping in from Texas, we took a flight down towards Sector F2.
I was not expecting this. Thought it was a poor attempt at humor from Halpert, but no. There is an Alien Jump Gate here. Appears to be badly damaged and inoperable. Any form of request the Arcturus would send out would lead to nothing. Our time spent in the Omicrons was short, since at that time we were deep in Nomad territory. Despite not knowing what is behind this, I did not want to take any chances. It did not take long after arrival, the first anomaly came to life.
Of similar composition to the one I examined in Omega-11, this process was expedited since our scanner had a preset setup for it. With minute adjustments, we begun to record everything we could. During our scans, we were close to being overloaded with information, to the point where there was some sort of bottleneck of information flow between the intake signal of the Anomaly Scanner, all the way to the import nodes on our compact data server on board the Arcturus. We do not know how to make this more efficient, however we are thankful that the massive amounts of data gathered did not take any more time. The Arcturus was turned around and headed back to Texas, and then to New York.
We may indeed keep looping around Sirius, keeping our data up-to-date and finding out more information about these Baxter-Type Anomalies. Perhaps in the process we can learn how to make our scanner more efficient so we can obtain more data at a quicker speed. For now, we shall moor on Manhattan and book a room for myself and my team for two days. Like that Deterrence pilot said, we need some rest and relaxation.

Godspeed, Pilots.
Voidstag... commanded by Cita. A Freelancer, like me. Sympathizer too, to Melia and by extension, me I suppose. They're wanting to build a mindshare device. Meant to be used by humans who aren't carriers, limited, but able to speak to them. Interesting project... how will I phrase this to Leon? As a whole we have the means of gathering data to help Cita... Melia approves of this venture, but I'll have to get Leon on board too.

[08.05.2022 02:59:09] Voidstag: Amy: Greetings... We've heard much of you.
[08.05.2022 02:59:21] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Hello...
[08.05.2022 02:59:24] Voidstag: Amy: I'm Amy Cita, acting captain.
[08.05.2022 02:59:43] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Cita, alright. Halpert of the Starfliers here.
[08.05.2022 03:00:12] Voidstag: Amy: Melia... let us know certain things. I just feel like we should clear the air before we start.
[08.05.2022 03:00:48] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: You've taken *that* step too?
[08.05.2022 03:01:26] Voidstag: Amy: No, none of us are Carriers. We're just a crew of sympathizers, or well, more like, tolerators for some of the crew.
[08.05.2022 03:02:06] Voidstag: Amy: Regardless, only a few of the officers here know your status.
[08.05.2022 03:02:16] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Let's keep it that way.
[08.05.2022 03:02:40] Voidstag: Amy: Of course. Anyways... onto buisness
[08.05.2022 03:02:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Go on.
[08.05.2022 03:03:19] Voidstag: Serah: I'm Serah Traline, head of science on the Voidstag. Long story short, we're working on an amplification chamber for-
[08.05.2022 03:03:51] Voidstag: -Psyonic communications by humans. Essentially it'll let us communicate messages to the Mindshare over a couple systems-
[08.05.2022 03:04:18] Voidstag: -In theory. But we're short staffed on qualified personnel, and materials.
[08.05.2022 03:04:28] Voidstag: Amy: So, we're approaching the Starfliers for assistance.
[08.05.2022 03:04:31] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Couple of big words there, but I think I get it.
[08.05.2022 03:04:42] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, what would you have me do?
[08.05.2022 03:05:28] Voidstag: Serah: Would the Starfliers be willing to help us on this? We could also use any data your organization might have on psychic-
[08.05.2022 03:05:32] Voidstag: -...stuff.
[08.05.2022 03:06:15] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: *I* can help you, but considering the nature of this, the others will decline.
[08.05.2022 03:07:46] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I did say before we could send the bigger ships... but if it's for this, they'll certainly refuse.
[08.05.2022 03:08:36] Voidstag: Amy: Unfortunate, but not surprising. Primarily we need data. We have an ally with a Corvo willing to assist on other parts.
[08.05.2022 03:09:00] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Can you tell me more about this chamber? How it can be used? The design?
[08.05.2022 03:09:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: There's no guarantee Leon will easily say yes, if I were to try convince him.
[08.05.2022 03:09:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: So any additional information may be necessary.
[08.05.2022 03:10:05] Voidstag: Serah: We - liberated - the design from a human source. We think it's based on a Daam K'vosh device. It takes the form of a-
[08.05.2022 03:10:40] Voidstag: -room of resonant material, a telepathically gifted individual, which our captain qualifies for, can send messages with it-
[08.05.2022 03:11:31] Voidstag: -over longer distances. It's capabilities likely only extend a system or two for a non-Nomad.
[08.05.2022 03:11:53] Voidstag: Amy: Very niche, but- useful for a crew like ours.
[08.05.2022 03:12:15] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: You require research on the alien mind-linking brain stuff. To allow this thing to be built and used?
[08.05.2022 03:12:43] Voidstag: Serah: Yes. If it's any consolation, we told Melia about it and she- well she didn't disapprove.
[08.05.2022 03:13:10] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Did not... okay. Surprising.
[08.05.2022 03:13:36] Voidstag: Amy: Apparently, we aren't the first ones to try it. My money's on Auxo.
[08.05.2022 03:13:47] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Normally the Starfliers stay clear of anything to do with the aliens... save for me.
[08.05.2022 03:14:31] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: At this point, I'm on board. But I will ask our leader about this project. No guarantees though.
[08.05.2022 03:14:55] Voidstag: Amy: No hard feelings if they decline.
[08.05.2022 03:15:25] Voidstag: Amy: Please do try and keep us anonymous. Sympathizers aren't exactly tolerated in most of Sirius.
[08.05.2022 03:15:55] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Understood. We got our own privacy stuff to work with too.
[08.05.2022 03:16:50] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Anything else to add before I run off?
[08.05.2022 03:17:10] Voidstag: Amy: Not particularly. I understand if you're uneasy about aiding in this.
[08.05.2022 03:19:20] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Not uneasy, just thinking about how the others will respond.
[08.05.2022 03:19:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I'll find out, will keep you posted.
[08.05.2022 03:19:47] Voidstag: Amy: Thank you for your time.
[08.05.2022 03:19:52] Voidstag: Serah: Good luck!
[08.05.2022 03:19:59] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Godspeed.
Specialized Research Vessel Abbreviated to S.R.V.
The result between the combined effort of the Starfliers, Orbital Spa & Cruise and the Technocracy of Auxo
. .
Vessel: "Enterpriser"-Class
This retrofitted "Enterprise"-Class liner was purchased from Spa & Cruise for one purpose, to become the best research vessel in Sirius. With their experience in cartography, research and utilizing the well-known Civilian Explorer vessels, the Starfliers set their sights higher. The design of the retrofit removes any and all fancy interiors that would normally be the standard for Orbital's staff and clientelle with hyper-focused research wings run by dedicated teams. In addition to this, the Liner itself has been fitted with an experimental Jump Drive, capable of jumping only itself into the Unknown Sectors, or to any other position within the Starflier Network. Whilst the Jump Drive can only generate a wormhole big enough for one ship, the "Enterprise"-Class has enough internal space to carry two Freighters, enabling a single vessel to bring three ships to a desired point for research expeditions. Cargo holds on the vessel have been swapped to specialized cases, custom made to hold the newly discovered materials within the Earhart sectors. This change makes the Liner unsuitable to carry any other type of material. The "Bustard"-Class that has served the Starfliers for many years would be reassigned to more of a representative ship, as the Liner would take on the role as the flagship of the Starfliers.
These upgrades will culminate into it's designation, one that symbolizes where we had all come from. Once the retrofitting process was finished, the '\S/'Sol was ready for it's first launch.
Being a very quick craft, system cartography ships are equipped with enhanced long-range sensors. Ready to detect entities from far distances, these vessels can map out systems near-instantly. Upon joining, new pilots get a ship prepared for them. Primarily, they are tasked with exploring space and finding any points of interests for further study and research. Our S.C.V.s can be equipped with "Nexus"-Class Starflier Network Beacons, building a hyperspace network for any Rift-Leap capable ship to use.
.
Role: Heavy Exploration Vessel // H.E.V.
Vessel: "Draugr"-Class
While the Starfliers have been running their operations within the Inverness System, they had expanded their operations to include "Draugr"-Class freighters, generously and secretly supplied by the Technocracy. These Freighters, designated Heavy Exploration Vessels, were necessary to travel through newly created rifts, big enough to carry enough cargo, but small enough to not have the ship torn apart during transit. With the recently discovered Earhart sector, these H.E.V.s are normally deployed to assist in mineral extraction expeditions alongside the D.C.V.s.
.
Role: Deep-Space Cargo Vessel // D.C.V.
Vessel: "Albatross"-Class
After organizing training with Universal Shipping during the early days of the Starfliers, our pilots were trained to fly ships of up to 2,000 cargo. This enabled the Starfliers to still operate ships that were small scale, but still be able to improve research operations. The "Albatross"-Class was chosen as the preferred ship for it's ease of use and ability to equip appropriate cargo pods depending on the cargo being carried. The role of the D.C.V.s are to haul cargo to keep the Starfliers financially stable, allowing the rest of the organization to fund research expeditions.
.
Role: Multi-Purpose Research Vessel // M.R.V.
Vessel: "Corvo"-Class
Purchased later down the line in the Starfliers time in Sirius, this "Corvo"-Class research vessel is built to research "Baxter"-Class Anomalies. After some were found around Sirius, getting a handful of these vessels into the Starfliers hands was expedited. Recently, Kishiro had pushed a software update to both Survey Modules, bricking their usage and removing all ability to collect vector information for the Jump Drives. This change forced the Starfliers to consider other options and instead swapped the equipment with Starflier Network Beacons, giving them even more hyperspace coverage across Sirius in addition to the S.C.V.s.
.
Role: Rift-Leaping Capital Vessel // R.C.V.
Vessel: "Bustard"-Class
The first Starflier vessel, and the company's flagship. The Velorum is capable of generating artificial rifts for others to utilize. Over the last few months, it has seen more use as Kishiro's software update on Jumping technology has enabled the Starfliers greater degree of exploratory expeditions. With enough Docking Bays to house a small squadron, these are used to transport a handful of S.C.V.s for exploratory excursions.
Previously serviced by the trustworthy "Albatross"-Class, the Starfliers found it inadequate to stay financially afloat.
An old wreck was discovered in the outskirts of the Ontario system, one resembling a transport worthy of flying today. A blueprint was drawn up
by the Junkers and at the request of the Starfliers, a couple of these ships were constructed to supercede the old "Albatross"-Class.
With the change of ship, the new "Retrofit"-Class vessels have got their callsign changed to Quasar.
