The German Criminal Code (Section 86a) prohibits the public display and dissemination of symbols of unconstitutional organizations, including Nazi symbols like swastikas and SS runes. This applies to both online and offline content.
As the admin of a game hosted on German servers, creating a list of "unwanted" names that includes Nazi-related terms is a proactive way to comply with these regulations. It won't break any laws; in fact, it helps ensure your game follows German legal standards and fosters a respectful environment.
It's also a good idea to inform players from other regions about these restrictions, as the global reach of the internet means that people from different countries might interact with your game. This way, you can help prevent any unintentional violations of local laws and maintain a positive community atmosphere.
Please do us the favor of bringing us a list of the "Not Allowed" names. While I can understand the dislike for some ideologies of the past, I personally feel ashamed of how an esoteric symbol navigating through a page of esoterics led me to pick a name without acknowledging its historical reference.
I fully understand the need to comply, but I want to make it clear that not all of us are Europeans, some of us are Latin-Americans, maybe Asians and so, a whole "list" of symbolism, characters and other things since it don't touch us or barely do, and how the goverment never told about it in a fully manner plus our knowledge, like yours, is sometimes limited (because something is hidden, and even the best researcher struggles to get some information). This has not only happened in forums but in the whole world. Remember students in Japan using swastikas as a proud symbol? Europe may hate it, but Japan has worked well to hide history from everyone. (since they don't suffered that, is something they don't see a reason to ban or sanction). A past is not touched except by the "good wills" of their people, like any other country.
The same happened to me, so I hereby and fully request at least a list of names not to use. Instead of just "Renaming" or "Sanctioning," start making your work easier by giving the whole community a clear guideline. This way, we can avoid further discussions and enlighten people in case they commit any errors in our sensitive community.
I am personally no one to discuss this, as told with @Karidon when he bastilled me (just cause i forgot about it, and Wildkins did not put me a notice in my hold as it is done at least to me to catch something happened and review the forums)
So what i am asking? ... A list, that is all, don't wanna make yourself? then i could look every historical things and make it for you, give me the permission and i will do the task you has been unwilling to do from the past years, i will look for whole story and start writting the names of each person or unwanted symbolism should not be on game. But since you are the admins i would belive this is a task you should have been provide to us since very long time.
Thanks for your patience in reading this or at least, make notice of it.
As an user to promised review if something is "out of the line" of the game, and will "try" not commit this nuisance again. it isn't about notice, it is about enlightment and understanding how the world works, by providing a list not only help to erradicate it faster, but instead fully avoid it.

P.D: "1.0 - Don't be a dick. It's a game, try to keep it fun for everyone playing it. Behavior that falls within the technical letter of the rules but not the spirit won't be tolerated."
This is a ridiculous rule, it don't explain anything, i mean, it does at least partly, but it isn't fully clear letter to consider it as a rule.
You are aware that everyone, themselves, can prevent something like this from happening. By doing their due diligence and just a minimal amounts of research.
As an example, let's take your case of the "Schwarze Sonne". Just the most rudimentary of research will lead you to something like the Wikipedia article, which admittedly isn't something that'd be used in academics, but suffices to get a base level of understanding of the subject matter. It literally states, in the first paragraph, that the symbol originates from Nazi Germany.
Same applies to literally 99.9% of cases in which names relating to the 3rd Reich are used. A simple search by the user would've revealed the problematic nature of them. So it begs the question of if it's either negligence or malice.
The staff is not responsible for preventing you from doing mistakes, you yourself are. If you fail to do so, it's entirely on you.
Common sense is all it takes. If you need to ask "Is this allowed", it's probably better to try something else.
Otherwise, if you get warned again, state that it is an honest mistake you made, you didn't know better, and everything is fine. You got warned, and nothing bad happened. No need to make a drama about it.
Any time this ever comes up, it's people, often Nazis, wanting to make Nazi references while pretending they're not actually doing anything wrong and are not actually making Nazi references.
(They always are. Every time.)
Just don't do Nazi references. It's not hard. There's no grey area, just don't do it, it's that simple. Anyone trying to make an argument or discussion out of it is always intentionally trying to make their overt Nazi references and maliciously trying to convince everyone they're not.
"They're just Wehrmacht pictures nothing to do with the Nazis" - No, you're a Nazi trying to get away with it.
"It's just a character from a TV show it's not an actual Nazi" - No, you're a Nazi trying to get away with it.
"Insert blah blah blah here" - No, you're a Nazi trying to get away with it.
This reminded me of a music video by a band from Mongolia, called The Hu, in which a group of bikers appears in this video, and one of them has a ring with a swastika. Of course, it was heavily criticized, and even with the explanation that that symbol has another meaning in their culture, they had to launch a new version where you no longer see that ring. that is, to avoid problems, we must always check what a name means or can mean, since this server is global.
If we go by this you can allow the Schwarze Sonne since its not forbidden to use this symbol in german, except you use it in combination with an forbidden group.
"Die Schwarze Sonne diente als Vorlage für ein im Boden eingelassenes Marmormosaik in Form eines Sonnenrades, welches zu Zeiten des Nationalsozialismus von der SS im "Obergruppenführersaal" im Nordturm der Wewelsburg (Kreis Paderborn/Nordrhein-Westfalen) eingelassen wurde und ist nicht strafbar. In Verbindung mit einer verbotenen Organisation ist die Verwendung jedoch strafbar." --> Translate it yourselfe / Source : The German domestic intelligence services - Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz
Me personaly wouldnt have noticed that at all.
I think you enter your Name + Nazi in google and if you dont see some Wikipedia articles on the first page you good to go.
But if you want a list of forbidden stuff in germany :
The fact that @Tenshi Kuonji is allowed to have rants like this on his own alt accounts is still baffling to me, a person who is fully aware of what they are doing and aware of the Nazi symbols and their meaning testing the waters just to troll is insane. P.s stop pretending to be a victim, no one's buying that.
The problem with names and symbols is that they're constantly evolving to dodge moderation - you can tell from sites like https://www.adl.org/resources/hate-symbols/search that catalog these things that not only does it get ridiculously specific and esoteric, but they're also super contextual. I personally don't think it's in the best interest of the server or anyone's sanity for anyone to make, maintain, or have to check a list of words that are 'ok' or 'not ok' beyond common sense - as if we do make a list, then people will do their darndest to circumvent it and that becomes a nightmare for everyone involved.
Use your common sense so that we don't have to sacrifice the sanity of everyone involved to heavily moderate everything. If it so happens something slips through the cracks, we can just let you know to change it.
