A young man with a hawkish face and a short, fairly uncontrolled head of sandy blonde hair approaches the LPI recruitment outlet at Fort Bush. He is a common sight at the Fort, since he stops there to pick up Consumer Goods for the route back to Planet Erie, but his goal here today is not to load a hold full of cargo. Entering the office quietly, he asks the clerk inside for a recruitment application. Picking out the seat closest to the counter, he begins to fill it out...
Name: Desmond Timothy.
Age: 24.
Height: 1.8 metres.
Weight: ~78 kilos.
Previous Jobs: Freelance freighter in the Liberty system.
Qualifications: Light fighter and light freighter civilian certifications.
Brief Biography: Born in Leeds, then taken to Dublin almost immediately afterwards to chase a gold mining boom in 794 A.S. Spent the next six years assisting his parent's fruitless efforts to strike it rich aboard a Hegemon mining ship, then was critically injured after a strafing run from a Molly fighter knocked out their shields...and most of the turret he was manning. Almost immediately afterwards the Nomad conflict of 800 A.S. broke out, so his parents took their remaining finances, bought a pirate Mule from the same group that attacked the mining ship, and fled Bretonia (and the advancing Rheinland military) for Liberty.
Once they reached Liberty space, the Timothys found work at Colorado, and they continue to work in the relative safety of one of the Ageira factories there, producing superconductors.
Their son was not content staying planetside, and his experiences in the Dublin asteroid field was not enough to scare him away from space, so his parents bought him a Starflier and sent him on his way. The parting was not pleasant, as his parents had been cowed by their experiences in Dublin and the flight to Manhattan, saying 'you'll learn one day, to your sorrow.'
Later, he made his way to Planet Erie in the Pennsylvania system, and from there tried his hand briefly at fighting pirates freelance for the Liberty Police, then after a failed engagement with some Lane Hackers (of which he barely escaped with his life), decided he would need to gather more funds to be successful in his endeavors, and if he did not want to go limping home to his parents. Saving up and buying a freighter, he continued his trading for about two months, at which point he met an LPI officer Kingman, who offered to hire him for a brief patrol.
Kingman asked him during the patrol if he would remain a civilian freelancer all his life, and whether or not it would be better for him to do something greater. Fluffing it off as a recruitment poster line, Desmond made a comment about being a cruiser captain, but it got the wheels turning...
Reasons for Joining: To defend the system that (more or less) embraced he and his during their flight, and the place he calls home. Bretonia is a distant memory, and he has no loyalty to the Crown or her government.

Task complete, he gives the document a thoughtful once-over, stands, and hands the form in to the clerk with a nod of thanks, and leaves the outlet with not another word spoken.
