i want to pirate the smuggling routes in coronado.
i will use a pirate ID with freelancer IFF.
and i want a gunboat, but i DONT want a zoner gunboat cause it only has 4 turrets.....
what ship can i use that would be in a coronado ZOI???

Outcasts have a significant number of people on the station. Maybe you could use the Outcast GB? I'm not sure about the infocard though - it could be Outcast specific and not allow Freelancers to use it. I suppose another option would be to ask the LH- if you can use a LH GS. I'm fairly sure Coronado is in the Hacker ZoI.

yeah, i think you responded to a post i hard earlier about this. i am a little worried about having only 4 turrets, but you and others seem to think it would work just fine....
i am still a little sceptical.
if you use a pirate factions ship, do you have to stay within that factions ZoI?
i.e. if i was using rogue ship, do i have to stay within rogue ZoI?
Why a gunboat? Freelancers shouldn't fly gunboats really, get a transport perhaps...

Yeah... PTrans = awesome transport killing power. Chain fire the turrets for maximum effect. It's good for credit and cargo piracy, and with the right armour upgrades, can munch it's way through most fighters and transports it comes across. Bombers are troublesome though.
get a pirate transport with armor upgrade, thats all the firepower youll need to pirate the smugglers through coronado, also its bigger fun for everyone if you use the transport. the smugglers dont really expect to be pirated if they see the your transport, if they spot the roguey gb they know what you got in mind and run.
but if you really want a gb i dont see the hackers or the outcasts just giving it away to some freelancer for pirating smuggler, since the outcast and their suppliers smuggle slaves and cardi through there too. so best choice would really be the zoner gb.
The only free-for-all gunboat out there is the Zoner GB. Rogue, Outcast, IMG... All of these require you either be part of the (NPC) faction, or have permission/a good reason for having it.
But I agree with the others that 4 turrets is plenty for most transports. 2 pulse turrets for shields, 2 razors for hull, and a pair of mine launches (nuke and scrambler together would be awesome). Train CD and the ability to thrust faster than most transports means you're pretty well set.
