Can't connect to (any) server

Hello. My first post here, so excuse me of i'm violating any forum decorum.

Basically, I am unable to connect to any server. None of the servers show up in the game list. It sits there at "Connecting to game server". I briefly saw a server list once, but upon trying to connect to it, it said "server is taking longer then expected" and nothing happened.

Yes, I have tried it with my firewall turned off (I have it set to allow all traffic for freelancer.exe anyway)
Yes, I have tried it with my AV turned off
Yes, I have tried it with both turned off.
Yes, I am behind a router - the router's firewall is off. I have ports 2300-2801 open on both TCP/UDP.
Yes, Vanilla Freelancer doesn't work either
Yes, I have become slightly frustrated by this. :D

I've tried running a tracert to one of the servers (the USA discovery one) and it ran fine. No dead hops in the path or anything unusual.

Oh, computer specs:
3ghz dual core, 2gb ram, windows xp SP3,
Firewall is COMODO, AV is Avast!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Yep, I'm having the same problem as well as half the vista users in the community. I dun know how to fix it.

Ok the first thing that needs to be asked is, is it a legal copy, I.E. you have the original game disc? or is it an ISO, MDF, or copy of one.


If its not a legit copy PM me i may have a way to help you.


If you cant run vanilla, then its an install problem, or you have a corrupted copy, as even the vista users that couldnt connect to the server can still play single player.


im betting on your install, or copy.

Huh, a corrupted install? I've reinstalled twice to no success in getting anything to appear in the server list....

Your assumption is correct. I have 4.85 mod FLMM 1.31

and you still cant log onto the server? thats very very strange for xp, as i run it, with sp3, and still run all my antivirus programs....

hmm....this is quite strange.

I hate to be rude in double posting, but could I ask how to find out if, for whatever reason, my IP address is banned by the server? It would make some sense why I can't view or connect to any servers.

try running freelancer as an admin. it should help.
