Really.

Don't let characters get deleted if you ever intend to continue to play them.

I'm saying this largely on behalf of faction leaders who set up their members, only to have that gear and money go poof when the player goes inactive for 40 days plus. Then they often come back, expecting to be re-equipped.

I have wasted dozens (maybe even hundreds) of hours of my time over my 2 years here, trading to make money to support my factions, only to have it vapourise that way.

Log the characters, or give the gear back for safekeeping. Pick one.

If someone can't log in for one minute every fourty days he should resign from the faction and donate his vessel to the faction.

Quick question I need confirmed. If you log onto one character on one account, will the rest of the characters on that same account be safe for another 40 days as well without you having to log into them? This seems to be happening to me. One of my accounts has only 3 characters, but I only use 2 of the characters and I'm 90% sure I have not touched the 3rd character in over 40 days, but it's still there.

Assume nothing.

Log them all.

EDIT : Confirming that sometimes the software will miss a character, but you cannot protect a whole account by protecting one character in the account. Log em all.

I try to run through all my accounts, and each character on each account, once every 14 days just to be on the safe side. Losing a couple billion in credits worth of ships is something to be paranoid about.

And no, if you log one character, you have to log onto ALL characters on the account or the unlogged character gets deleted. found that out the hard way once.

It helps if, as a faction leader, you make it clear that the setup funds are a one-time thing, and if you lose your ship, it's up to you to replace it.

Another interesting corollary to this is, if you're a faction leader, make sure you log into your faction's bank monthly. Bowex found this one out the hard way.
