This idea came when trading on Rheinland in my DHC character, i had to undock from the ring to Oder shipyard, and thought that maybe docking could be made so that you dont actually dock with the cutscene and everything but that you could still see the commodities menu and buy stuff and when you close the window undock and proceed to your next point.

I think this is a great Idea.
5000K Transports are huge, they are soemtimes bigger than the whole Station. And it looks kinda weird when i dock my Shire onto Perth, but there are also problems.
Like:
- What about people shooting at you?
- Logging of when you are moored?
Or other people cant see you? I dont know what you mean in that way.
"Who is it doing this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin'?"
Yeah I mean like a mooring, for transport only like normal docking moorings on planets, but you dont actually dock like it has been since vanilla, you would remain in space and the commodities window appears to buy whatever you want.
I dont know about others shooting at you, maybe make it at each own's risk, docking with the risk of getting shot down? you could still be able to dock normally (for logging off, or for more security, etc) ayways I've never been shot in a transport while docking (but maybe its for the pirates I've met have good RP and dont get close to a base to pirate).
And since you are not really docked, normal F1 rules would apply, and of course others would see you, I think it would look more realistic that way.
Perhaps also make it so that you can actually dock on Shipyards. Because the way the system works now, everyone would be returning to Erie once they die. Mostly every faction now has a shipyard of some sort.
I really like this idea, bring up the commodities/equipment screen with your ship locked in space. Might make traffic control above planets and stuff harder....
"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."

Well, work out how to code this and then get back to us. However, dotting fast dock points throughout the shipyard 'cages' is a great idea. Having to ram the tip of the shipyard's control module is stupid - I'd rather fly my Shetland into the mooring cage and dock there.

Good idea? Yes. Possible? Maybe
