Last night, during some exploration flight, i noticed something that makes me think. It's about lawfulls-unlawfulls balance in game.

To make things clear, i will first define some terms that i will be using:
sovereign state, government, sovereignty and authority (reference: wikipedia)

SOVEREIGN STATE (in this case it's Houses):

A sovereign state is a political association with effective internal and external sovereignty over a geographic area and population which is not dependent on, or subject to any other power or state.

The Montevideo Convention has four conditions that an entity must meet to become a country:
* a permanent population
* defined territory
* Government
* capacity to enter into relations with other states

GOVERNMENT
A government is the body within an organization that has the authority to make and enforce rules, laws and regulations.

SOVEREIGNTY:

Sovereignty is the quality of having supreme, independent authority over a territory.

AUTHORITY

Authority is often used interchangeably with the term "power". However, their meanings differ: while "power" is defined as "the ability to influence somebody to do something that (s)he could not have done", "authority" refers to a claim of legitimacy, the justification and right to exercise that power.

I think that i don't have to tell you that situation in Disco is not as it should be, regarding this definitions. In Sirius is anarchy. Unlawfull factions are stronger. For example, last night i haven't seen any Bretonia military or police in Manch, NL, Leeds, Dubiln, but in every sytem was at least one pirate. Also, you can be pirated in the middle of NY.
I understand that in RL you also can be mugged in the middle of the day in front of police station, but this is quite different. In RL it's incident, but here, it's a rule.
I know that there is couple of active milit/police players in every house, and they are not to be blamed.

I assume that you understand what i'm talking about, so i would like to hear your oppinion about this.
Many of you are in RP much longer than i am, and i believe that you have experience and some ideas how can this problem be solved. Defined max number of players in unlawfull factions?
If you think that this is not a problem, i would like to write here your arguments.

My first step (and only that i could do) is to join some mill/police faction, i'll decide later which faction it would be.

Thank you for reading, i hope that you will not label this post as unusefull.

We are all dying -- and we're gonna be dead for a long time...

There are waaay too many Lolcasts and Lolsairs, that's why. They all think like "Why join the police and be poorly paid, restricted to your house when you can be a pirate and do whatever the hell you want?"

Lolwutters, really. We have too many of them.

I do believe you missed the point he was trying to make.
Its every pirate group,reguardless of faction/location.
For some,its more fun to make others lives miserable,because less work and thought are required
in typing out "2mill or die"..pew pew pew.
Much easier to get credits and guns that way than to actually have to work for it.

I do think cabulb was partially right though. If you're looking at what is available, you have:
a) jump in a lf and join the police,
b) jump in a fighter/bomber/cap and patrol,
c) jump in a bomber/gb and blow some traders/lawfuls up, all the while getting credits.

@Ivan : offtopic: Take the mojave-NY gate or westgate -> Manhatten lanes, there is always at least one pirate there. Hard to catch when sitting there pew-pewing the lanes?

Why dont you trade at some other place?
I mean, for me, smuggling could be one of most interesting professions out there.

Either that or actually chasing smart pirates. Escort is fun too

This issue have an easy answer... Lawfuls cant fight, unlawfulls sure know how to fight.

We can easy say that among Outcast, and Corsairs, and other strong unlawful we find the best pilots of Sirius.

We enjoy fighting, smuggling, not spending all day doing some secure and boring trade just to buy some nice shinny ship and never use in a real fight, since most lawfuls especially around Liberty never had a fight in their life, or if they had it is when they are 10 to 1.

De Cruz out.

I think the answer as to why it's imbalanced is in basic physiological psychology. Everyone wants to be "Different" to attract the opposite sex and mate. Everyone wants to have some perks that attracts others that they can show how much better they are and attract more mates.

How many people get to be rambunctious space pirates who barely escape the law in real life? How many people get to be a successful criminal of any kind? How many people of the opposite sex are attracted to successful criminals?

Easy as. Joining the army, becoming a police officer, being a trucker, aren't exactly "Exciting" things to do in real life. Basically anyone could do those things. Being a successful criminal, though, is rare. Basic physiological psychology.

EDIT: If I understand what you're saying correctly
