I think that's the most probable answer, Dab. I see it as the most logical explanation and FP7System is Omicron Lost.
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
The nomads must have moved the debris out of he way - into Sigma-17 after they blasted the base to smithereens.
Thx, fellaz.
Btw, could Omicron lost get a bit more lively? The beginning cutscene is no longer in use, because the whole SP camapign doesn't work with the mod. I mean perhaps a rebuilt FP7? Some dark asteroid fields, one more planet and such...
In vanilla, FP7 system wasn't shown on the nav map.. I'm thinking maybe either it was hidden and Igiss is revealing it, or Igiss added it into the nav map, and a place you can enter, and gave it another name..
Something like that.
@Templar, the SP campaign DOES work. Its just much harder, but still works just as well.
It is rather odd, if FP7 was way out in sig17 why would they bring the victims to Manhatten...That is why I always thought it would have been in the NY system.

They dropped the survivors off at Manhattan because it makes for a more American storyline. Also, Sig-13 is filled with some rather unpleasantly powerful NPCs for a guy in a Starflier, AND the gas pockets, AND ridiculously powerful guns, AND two faction all but at war with one another.
I agree, we should spice up Omicron Lost, because in truth nobody who even semi-seriously multiplays screws around on the SP campaign for anything but reference now. For that reason I think we should let the BSG have it, as well (And I need a definite place to fix my Outcast rep:lol:). It IS convenient for them.
Another thought along similar lines-If the Battlestar is really a BSG thing, couldn't we replace it with something else and let them have it? I've been thinking about designing some huge, massive evil thing looking like the Parthenon, built on an upsized piece of planet, like the Tohoku Arch and Corsica, theoretically big enough to fit the Battlestar though to the inner chamber. Might be better signifying that this IS an admin base. Give them their own system so people aren't tempted, too.

McNeo, the Zoners now have two stations one jump from where FP7 was.. And two jumps away they have a shipyard, the biggest Freeport in existance, a military center, and the Zoner's top weapon and ship development center. I don't think they much care about Sigma-17 anymore..
BTW, maybe they were taken to Manhatten, because the ship that rescued the survivors was from Liberty? It would seem natural for the Liberty Government ship to take them there. Plus, it was best for the storyline to start there. Keep in mind, they don't actually ever TELL you where FP7 was. You could think it was in one of the independent systems.
