Hi all, Now, my problem, is that i cannot bring myself to be evil in disco, just like in reality i'm having serious trouble being an evil person, For a budding unlawful this is a major problem, \So, i was wandering if i could possible have some advice, Thanks in advance :yahoo:
Thanks for the fast reply :laugh:it irritates me, mainly because i physically cannot bring myself to type " You, [insert name here] I want a portion of your cargo" or something like that, Getting the Rp down is a challange to
In that case, just remember it's just a game and yer only playing your role:P
...Despite the fact I've had people call me all sorts of things for pirating them OOC, but yeah, lolwutters aside, do what you like doing, don't force yerself to play an unlawful if ya don't wanna.
It's only a game & we all play games to have fun;)
Hah, perhaps for someone some roles are quite hard to preform. Anyhow, just put a side morality, forget the laws and what mom told you about good behaviuor, start acting egocentric, and buolia you are a bad guy:D
As someone who plays in a lot of different roles (trader, pirate, military, etc.) I can tell you that you don't have any reason to feel bad if you pirate using RP, rather than just saying "Give me 2 million or die".
When I'm playing as a trader or miner I actually enjoy being pirated, as long as it's done well. Otherwise it can get awfully boring.
On the other hand, when playing as a pirate I usually have an awful lot of fun and get a good response from people. I've even had people who couldn't afford to pay me come back and give me the money later.
What do you want to accomplish as an unlawful? Are you chosing a pirate faction that is gearing towards more political goals? If that is the case you never have to pirate, just hassle authorities and spread propaganda.
If you just want to pirate then make the amounts trivial. I don't believe in charging someone 3-5 million just to stay alive. That is a huge chunk of the casual traders profits and still a decent size of a power-trader. If pirating the was the best way to make money then more people would be doing. I pirate for the RP and there is no sense in punishing another player because I have fun saying "Money or your life, chump." I charge 250k-750k depending on transport size. If someone is empty I scare them real good, but I normally just let them pass.
Also, with mining becoming more prevelant, you can just go to major mining points and have some fun. Whether you leave with actualy money, or just steal some ore, you can still scare the piss out of people.
The next question is how often do you want to fight authority figures? For me a good fight or police rp encounter is just as fun as getting cash from a transport. You can get yourself noticed after one trader and then just sit around and wait for the cavalry. I always try to keep a stock of navy or police pilots in the my hold just to extra piss off johnny law. Sometimes I try to play the hostage game too. Let me leave here safely and I will release my prisoners. I would not recommend trying to hold them hostage for anything more than your life though. A true navy, especially Kusari, would rather shoot the pirate and kill his comrades than suffer the indiginity of surrending credits.

Or join the corsair house. No, not those who sits around crete doing nothing except flying to malta to die in huge flames. There is more than justa bad guy like rogues who are trying toget money in dirty ways. Those people are trying to survive. More you play more it grows into you. And like from my characters perspective corsairs are the lawfuls and lets say Bretonians are foes. Along with outcasts and others.
I always agiasnst the view of bad guys and good guys. Diffrent factions diffrent people have diffrent dreams and diffrent ways to achieve them. Anyhow some of the people goups are on top and otehrs are trying to overtrow them. Here comes the conflicts - rp situations.
Sometimes you act like a guy who is in desperete need of money. Like for corsair to take money or cargo from a trader in omegas is nothing wrong, since Corsairs are law there. Well in other hand the same would be just opposite in lets say Bretonia. But it is all about clash of interests.
Make a character in your head. What does he wants. And how does he wants to achieve them. Then try to do that while interacting with other people chars. Heh you can play unagressive corsair if you want, but hah, that would be quite strange o.o
Thanks for the helpful responses all, my idea for an unlawful is that of a man hows in it for the money but rarely asks for anything above 750K, ok, maybe if a miner was hauling silver...maybe. i think the way piracy has turned out in disco to be rather strange, so my character is going to ask for demands that, in the scale of traders, are very very little, should provide some good rp :yahoo:
Make a good RP story. Mine for example, for my Rogue character Ketzel:
His daughter was raped and then killed when it was found out she was pregnant by a Kusari diplomat's spoiled son. My character went to exact vengeance on the kid, but didn't manage to kill him. He got caught and sent to Sugarland, from where he managed to escape and join the Rogues. His mission in life is to find this kid and to kill him. To do so, however, he needs resources, and since he can't get them legally as he's an escaped convict, he pirates.
Just an example.
