We still need more pirate characters! The traders are having it too easy. I have a criminal character who is still yet to meet another criminal player (showing green on the scanner).
Why aren't there more pirates? I think two reasons. Firstly piracy is hard. The large (player) trade ships are too well protected, even against fire from battleships. I recently attacked a trader and escort fighter. I had no problem dealing with the escort but I couldn't touch the train. What's the point in having an escort?
Secondly there is no ship suited for lone piracy. To attack a transport you need a cruise disruptor to stop it escaping, which means sacrificing big firepower like Sunslayer, Nova or Inferno, which are needed to get through the traders shield and armour. Players could team up for piracy, but we don't have enough.
After all this time Discovery still looks like a space trade simulation with player factions posturing here on this board but not really doing anything on the server. Igiss, please do something to give the bad-guys a chance!
Suggestions - either reduce the power of Class 9 shields, or modify a fighter to make it more pirate friendly, with an extra disruptor/torpedo mount. Now that we have the House Class 10 VHFs, I'd convert the Blood Dragon by making two of its Class 10 mounts into torpedos, and changing the current torpedo mount to a Class 9. I don't think this would be unbalancing, as it would leave it with only two Class 10 mounts. And it looks like the weakest Class 10 VHF to me anyway.
Come on, if you wish to register as a criminal, post here! Any faction. A criminal is someone hated by all House police and military.
Role-played characters:
daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons
"Bounty Hunters. We don't need that scum." - Admiral Piett
You pirates have a hard time attacking traders. It's not only because of the shields, it's because a trader, when attacked, or requested for cargo, can exit the server and activate another char. :tease: :haha:

Titus, I hope you're not saying that's what you would do! :nono:
I laughed when the trader I mentioned earlier switched characters (after first docking, to his credit) and came at me with a battleship. I just ran away and waited for the trader to reappear.
I've said before that I'll name and shame here anyone using F1. Thankfully I've only seen one player do it, it was a character called John Kreed.

F1'ing is just cowardy. A respectable player shuld not do it. (I mean doing it in open space. If you dock, you can F1 and came with a warship to defend your trader char)
Adding another mount for cruise disruptor is a good idea. So we can have torps and disruptors at a time...
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
well... trader do it JUST to annoy the pirates... in your face baby :haha: :tease:

But in a way.... more pirates will make the game more exitable but sometimes... a pirate is the biggest pain in the neck

Well, DarkStar's a pirate. And once I get everything I need for Lithium Scavanger, he'll be a part time pirate/smugler (He's a junker, and they like just about everyone. Well, they're nutral with just about everyone).
If you get some of the codename weapons, the torps don't matter that much. The torps are expensive, and if your not careful you can blow yourself up with your target.

Yea i almost blow myself up with a nova when i was beating the crap out of Lancer's BS. :haha: BTW i was in an Eagle so this proves to you i can take out a battleship with a fighter.
