While on the subject, a good tool for arriving at a mission waypoint with energy fully charged, is to engine kill after full cruise speed has been achieved, then EK and use reverse thrust to drop speed below 200.
You will arrive at your mission with full energy if you do this about 8 - 10k out from the waypoint.
Good trick, especially if in a bigger ship that needs more time to charge than a small fighter.

Realistically explainable by dust particles hitting your shield and producing a small amount of motion 180 degrees from your direction of forward motion. But that's something for General Discussion.
Don't abuse EK too much. You'll get caught in a heavy weapons blast by a VHF or bomber.
