Your best chance is to contact one of the developers directly. (Since I foresee +1 festival.)

Treewyrm, Dab, Mjolnir, Hribek, Jinx and so on may be able to help you with it. PM them.

Judging by his last few words, I daresay he wants to make his own mod and wants to change the version from 1.0 to something else.

No idea, but I am guessing it something more useful than a +1.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

Not in genuine help threads, and I mostly do that in Flood anyway.

Having said that, I think I will go with "prove it".

Okay, I actually know the answer to this one...

It's the Freelancer.exe (and FLServer.exe) file version. The original was... 1.0.0.251 or something like that. Disco's is 4.85.3.some other number. If you had hacked it to be 4.85.4, you wouldn't be able to play on the server, which runs 4.85.3. Only the major and minor version numbers (in this case, 4.85) show up in the server list, but the release and build effect the server's version and who can connect.

TL;DR: It's the exe file's version.

Retired, permanently.
