I Got into a fight against a BS in New York. Our role-playing was adequate, and we both gave clear warning before firing on eachother. I however escaped the battle by cruising towards the nearby sun, and then flying to Buffalo Base 75 K away. He tells me I have to sign off for 4 hours because its against the rules to leave a fight, but my retreat was well role-played so I do not think that this should be the case. Clarification?

Fleeing = PvP death. You have to leave the system for 4 hours, or switch to another character in another system, unless you are a trader.
You do NOT have to logoff for 4 hours and it is NOT against the rules to flee a battle.
If you DO flee a battle, you simply cannot re-engage that particular player with any of your players for 4 hours and you gotta leave the system. Other than that there's not much else required.
Sounds to me like this guy doesn't quite understand the details of the rules.
Actually i think it was me he is talking about(i may be wrong) I never said against rules to flee. I did state fleeing is a PvP death when he said he fled in RP,and can stay in system. I think he misunderstood me,or This was someone else and not me. I never went into anymore detail with him,and just asked him in PM to re-read the rules to confirm what i was advising.
PvP is fleeing no matter how well do you RP it. Since you did RP it well why didn't you continue to rp it well and docked on a shipyard for 4 hours inspection and emergency repairs?
I may have missunderstood, but, what is it when a person flees from a pirate after being stoped, is it still a deith then? because that is exactly the situation, except I was an outcast bomber and he was in a Lib. Dred.

After reading that, you can see that he is right. You had to leave the system for 4 hours. You were not excepted from the rule, since you were not a transport/freighterner, nor doing an escortjob for one of those type of vessels.
Indeed right now is like this.It is possible to be changed: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66438
