On behalf of the Amirals of the High Command of the Armee de la Republique, I am very happy to award Brigadier Leon Chevalier of the Gallic Royal Police the prestigious medal of the Ordre des Palmes Academiques for his commendable acts on July 1st, 818 AS. As a matter of a fact, this is the first to have ever been commissioned!
I have bestowed this award instead of one of the Amirals due to the fact I was the line officer who dealt with Monsieur Chevalier during the incident, and subsequently nominated him to the militaire High Command for the decoration. It was thought only apt I did the honours. For those who are unfamiliar with Republique decorations, the Ordre des Palmes Academiques holds the following description:
Traditionally granted by the Republique de Gaule for contributions to the fields of academia, culture and education. However, the Order of Academic Palmss role is subtly altered during times of war in that an additional clause is added that will merit its award; exceptional efforts by civil or militaire personnel towards enlightening and educating the Republiques enemies via all and any mediums. May be granted to foreign nationals.
Monsieur Chevalier received the prestigious decoration after High Command agreed that his outstanding and exceptional contributions to the field of culture merited the Order. After reviewing the data logs of the incident and praising his most wonderful works of comedic fiction, the decision was unanimous.
Mes amis, I can personally say the Republique greatly anticipates receiving your first published works, and will be more than happy to offer you a position as a professor of creative writing in New Paris' elite Universite de la Sorbonne in the Ile-de-France system. After the Republique victory, of course. Your medal will be dropped off on Djion Station by courier.
Again, congratulations - and well done!
