@ Unit-sk855 - Their fighters get wasted by caps? Tough luck. It's called asymmetrical warfare for a reason. One side has bigger guns... the other runs, hides and hits them where they are weak. This is how the rebel factions should operate.
@NeXuS - The option does hurt, because people will use that option and ruin the logical economical basis which Sirius is meant to have. It's like giving Corsairs the option to fly Sabers.
KNF has a huge BS with 18 turrets. BD would have a small BS with 12 turrets. Enough to counter Kusari Destroyers, but not enough to go in combat with a Kusari BS 1 to 1. While the Dragon Cruiser would have the firepower to challenge a Kusari BS but not enough to fight against a Kusari Destroyer. Well balanced i think.
' Wrote:But Blood Dragons have the money. They are supported by one of the greatest corporations and one of the greatest independant companies. They also are supported by members of the government.
Btw, Rogues and Mollys should be treated as a unit. Which makes them to the greatest pirate faction.
Respectfully
AoM
Edit: GC's would been wiped immediatly, without beeing protected by Blood Dragons.
no...they wouldn't...they have rumors about the government trying to infiltrate the GC...and how they don't even know who the GC are...the GC are massive...and are popularly supported.
' Wrote:Also, AoM has it right too. Think on the economic level of how "rich" is actually defined. Factions that you would consider "poor" are small. Being small does not mean they cannot afford to obtain a battleship. These are crime organizations that are leeching off of major houses. Think about how much money is floating around in the varying schemes these organizations are running. If one trade ship can make 10million or more selling one full load of something, then whatever pirate organizations that are a hand in any area will be cutting off the top of schemes of unimaginable quantities of cash. Not to mention battleships could be built on top of existing chassis of other ships to save on money. Bomb the crap out of a kusari ship, tug boat it away, strip it, and start building on top of it for cheaper than scratch development and you have a battleship for a lot cheaper.
ok...
so is the government...and...what's the logistics of moving a kusari cap back to chukogu?
love to see that RP event. it would have to be tugged...and tugs are slow.
and, you know the kusari...they would rather bomb the hell out of it than let it fall into enemy's hands.
also, you are confusing our ID system with what factions really are....
there are factions out there that are still Idealistic, but, they get pirate IDs, because the admins don't want that many xeno like ids floating about...no idea why....
BD, as seems our example here, are not pirates.
they are rebels, trying to overthrow the government
and failing....they often call Kyoto their 'lonely exile'
doesn't exactly call to mind massive supporters?
GMG supports them because they are a thorn in Kishiro's side...not because they believe in them...so, they are economically vested in their survival, not their success.
Not really much point in limiting ships built for certain factions, unless you also change their IDs to only allow gunboats or whatever (which I think should be done in a number of cases). Say you have a little bitty NPC faction with a little bitty PC faction. They don't have their own capships, so they just use those of their allies.
At least with lots of factions getting their own ships there's a wider variety out there, making things a bit more interesting.
Only thing to really be done would be to change all IDs to only gunboats/below, and if you want anything larger you need Admin approval and a bloody good reason to have it.
@ blunt: Because the Togo is so beautyful.:ylove: I'm very biased in this case. I would kill for. Remove many of my former models maybe all, but this one must be in-game. So if i run out of argues i will start flaming you to H33L.
A while ago i have suggested to limit the battleships with admin approval. To much work for the admins was the response. But it would be the only way to get a limitation.
I agree, to have all these ships must not mean every one will have an easy access. Price and reputation aren't really obstacles.
AOM....I am sorry to have finally come down on the ship spamming once you produced the Togo...it really is beautiful...
been meaning to do this for a while...because, if you step back for a moment...why?
why would they have it...how would they move it anywhere?
has anyone considered the asteroid fields?
its a beauty...
make it a KNF battlecruiser...gods know they need one...they are a major military, with a huge gap between their destroyer and their BS.....the Liberty navy get all sorts of extra ships, why not the KNF?
I love the diversity, but...I feel like the diversity should come from things other than just ships...
More and more, the general trend has been to limit play than to actually Role-Play. It has been on the increase for quite a spell, topic case in point. Just play:)
' Wrote:Actually....GC are the major crime ring of Kusari.
If you read the rumors....Farmers Alliance are small time, and controlled by Samura propaganda, Hogosha are almost police, BD do raids, and the GC have a massive following, and are growing, and also control the flow of cardamine through Kusari space....The BD are small, and do a few raids on KNF....and depend on Ainu depot to do it. The BD can challenge the KNF because they avoid capships, hide out in the asteroids where capital class vessels are sitting ducks, and are ace pilots.
You've got so many facts wrong that you must be overdosing on cardamine!:nono::rtfm:
Actually, Hogosha, not GC, are the major crime ring in Kusari. Hogosha are not "almost police." Hogosha NPCs don't go around scanning for contraband. Have you ever visited Kabukicho Depot (the Hogosha headquarters base in New Tokyo)? You can buy synthetic marijuana and artifacts there. I don't think you can buy those on police bases. Read the description for Kabukicho Depot and you'll learn the history of the Hogosha. Pipboy accumulated the history of the Hogosha, along with news and rumors in the second paragraph of the initial post in the The Black Dragon Society, A Hogosha Faction proposal thread. I've quoted that paragraph below:
' Wrote:Hogosha translates literally as "guardian" or "protector," reflecting the organization's rather romantic view held not only by its own members, but by a large portion of the Kusari population -- though by no means the majority. Far from protectors, the Hogosha are actually descendents of the organized crime syndicates that grow within the shadow of any sizable human society -- though the Hogosha have an oddly symbiotic relationship with both the government and Samura. Their political connections would make any serious attempt to dismantle them an embarrassment to Kusari as any number of secrets and deals that had been kept out of the public eye came to light. However, neither do the Hogosha have a free license to operate. Arrests of low-level Hogosha operators who flaunt their activities are frequent and help keep up appearances -- very important in Kusari. "Hard" crime, such as drug smuggling, is not tolerated. Individual opinions vary, but most police consider the Hogosha a necessary evil required for the smooth functioning of Kusari society. The government simply treats the Hogosha like any other large keiretsu. The Kusari population as a whole has a similar attitude: It is pointless to like or dislike the Hogosha; they are simply a fact of life. The Hogosha handle Artifact and gun smuggling and the fencing of stolen goods. They also do occasional dirty work for Samura. They view the Blood Dragons as a major threat to their existence and have engaged in turf wars with them, mostly in the asteroid fields of Tokyo. The Golden Chrysanthemums are a new problem, as they have few qualms about dealing in the drug trade or its consequences. Since they have no corruptible leaders or long associations with Samura or the Kusari government and police, The GC -- like the Blood Dragons -- are dangerous to the Hogosha way of life. They view the Junkers as their only real competitors within the Sirius Sector, and their only obstacle to expansion into the other Houses. They have approached the Corsairs to assist them in their plan, although no concrete steps have been taken. The Hogosha made a recent arrangement to purchase Artifacts directly from the Corsairs on the cruise ship Hawaii, a move that infuriated the GMG, who formerly served as the middleman between the two crime syndicates. It also raised the ire of the LSF, who applied pressure on Orbital Spa to deny landing privileges to the two factions.
