Pirating in New York, with Battleships?

I had noticed another Discovery server called "Archys Portal of Discovery" whenever I logged on, but had never visited it before, then today I saw a post on here about it that looked interesting, so I decided to go have a look.

The forum was very interesting and it is obviously a PvP centred server, but one article that caught my eye was a discussion that players had been using their Battleships to pirate with, even in the New York system. Intrigued, I read through the thread to find that they generally consider freighters/transports fair game for pirating with cap ships, as anyone who flies a trader should expect to get pirated, in fact is asking for it. But are considering that it MIGHT be overkill to use their Battleships to blast them and perhaps they should limit it to only Gunboats or Cruisers to make it a bit fairer! :shok:

I have to admit this put me off playing there a bit, but it may be of interest to some of you out there. If so, why not go have a look?

I don't think that pirates should fly anything smaller than the Death Star. They certanly have resources and capabilities to build them.

Official faction players that are often accused of elitism, never deploy them and have those weird, immersion killing "fair fight/dueling" suicidal hobbies. (yes, i've seen enough of those lolduels, where house military with overwhelming force on the field willingly loses a pilot in a duel. ffs.)

I really wish you much luck when attempting to pirate with battleship. Especially since you got no thruster and no disruptor. Fair play to you. Probably traders on Archys are just sitting in space and doin "UH" ?

I don't suggest it, but shooting a transport with a Battleship does not take very long, especially since you can do it at up to 2k with guns which travel at 4x Cruise speed and then you can use Mortars and the fun stuff which have an even longer range. If someone decides to Cruise, it doesn't take too long to make him regret it, even without a CD or Thruster.
