"LH~Operations log from a few days ago"
Hey Ops, you got that system hacked yet man? We need those credits. Recon said frantically as Operations tried to hack the bank system. Man, hurry up, Liberty dont screw around, theyll be on us in prolly minutes. Recon added. Listen Rec, Im doing the best I can. Banks dont necessarily use easy codes.
*Several Minutes Later*
GOT IT! Operations yelled as the credits finished transferring to his Credit Pad. Good, lets get out of here. Recon said. Three Liberty Police Officers busted through the door, armed with pistols. Freeze, drop the Datapad and put your hands where we can see them. One of the officers ordered. Ops, go! Recon yelled as he ducked to dodge the gunfire.
Operations made it out the door and sealed it behind him. He was only able to get about 50,000 credits from the account. The police were onto him now, he had to make a break and get off of Planet Erie. Through back alleys and subways, he made it to the space port. He managed to dodge several patrols that were obviously looking for him.
A junked up Starflier was waiting in the back Garage for him with help from an old friend. It was outfitted with a few Liberty guns and had civilian identification but he had to hack the ignition systems to bet past the binary lock. Operations thought his Hacking skills may give him a chance at work with the Lane Hackers so he set off to find connections that could set him up.
He was stopped midway through Liberty and was scanned by the police. Okay, stay right there and no one has to get hurt. The officer said, he must have run Operations bio codes. He had to think fast. Several storage units idled near the planet. Operations took the one chance he had, shooting them with what firepower he had. It was a success, blowing those up gave him some head start time. However the explosion drew the attention of the Liberty Rouges.
About ten kilometers later, a wing of Bloodhound fighters stopped Operations. Hey, A rough old voice could be heard over the intercom. Youre the guy who just raised hell over at Manhattan, arent you? The voice asked. Operations stopped for a second then realized the rouges could get him in touch with the Lane Hackers. Yeah, that was me. Operations replied. Follow us then. The wing leader replied.
The group proceeded to the Buffalo base. The rouges seen Operations as a fellow fugitive so they let gave him a temporary room until he either joined up with them or parted ways. Operations spent a lot of time in the bar, looking for a possible Hacker to come through. He began overhearing a couple pilots talking. Man, I wonder how those Hackers are living up in Mactan. Its gotta be a lot nicer than this dump. One man said. Hey, Buffalo isnt that bad. We could always go up to Mactan and check it out. Well never make it in our Hounds though, wed need some of those Daggers up in the hangar. Replied the other. Yknow, I shot down a few pilots yesterday and left their ships there as a reminder to all to beware the rouges maybe we could go snag their equipment and sell it to get money for one of them there Daggers. Said a third man at the table.
Operations decided to go in search of those couple or wrecks. After several hours of searching, both wrecks were found and pillaged. He had to hack the weapons systems in the middle of space in order to release the guns but they came off quite easily. He made his way back to Buffalo in that junker of a ship he had and sold the equipment he grabbed. He proceeded to the hangar to look at those Daggers that the other pilot was talking about. He approached the chief mechanic. I want to buy one of those Daggers that you have. Operations said. At first the Mechanic looked surprised but then said Very well then. Ill take those credits and the ship is yours my friend.
The Dagger was a lot nicer on the interior as well as the exterior. The seat felt much more comfortable and it had a bit more leg room. The cockpit was roomier and the ship had more controls, allowing its engines to die and the ship to spin. The hull plating was obviously much thicker than the other ship. Operations was just itching to take it for a test flight. Ah, man I think this thing can certainly get me to Mactan. He said. Mactan? You mean the Hackers base? Hey I got some coordinates for that place on my nav computer if you dont have it. The Mechanic said. Thatd be great man, thanks. Operations replied gratefully. Yeah, Ill upload it to your ship; go take it for a spin while Im doing it.
The wreck money gave Operations enough to outfit his Dagger at Mactan when he arrived. He threw an Adv. Stunpulse and a few hull damaging weapons and set off to the bar. He needed to get in the good graces of the Hackers if he was going to join up with them. Eventually, after several missions, they accepted him as a Hacker, however it was up to their leader if he was fit enough to wear their tag.
