Greetings, Lane Hackers.
My name is Jared Freeman, from the vessel LH~Jared.109. I have been through much hassle in order to contact you. So here is my story and the reasons behind my my urge to join you...
Until last week, I was a hard-working and obedient “employee”, more like slave, of Ageira Technologies, based at Pueblo Station. My fields of expertise were Software Engineering and Internal Ship Systems Development. I was working on a classified project, fine tuning the targeting systems on the latest Liberty Bomber, the “Upholder”, and I am in possession of quite much intel concerning the ship. Anyways, I had joined these dogs right after graduating from Manhattan University of Technology and for me, working hard and moving up the corporate ladder was what life was all about. Well, at least until I discovered what these dirty swines did to the efforts I put in my work and all my seemingly endless hours in the sim machine! My department manager took it all and that sucker put his name on the whole of it ,without even mentioning me, and simply sent it to the higher ups! Wrongly thinking that the company actually cared about a lowly wageslave like me, I went on a filed a complaint at the Ageira headquarters. But as expected from those money-grabbing fiends, they didn't even care to receive me! Not even the case for “Theft of Intellectual Property” at the corrupt LPI changed a thing for that skanking thief! He got away with it and was even congratulated for “his” excellent work. That was it! I quit my job at Ageira and tried to apply for another one at some random firm, only to find that I was accused of corporate property theft at Ageira and thus, couldn't be employed by any other company. I went back to the New York system, where my apartment on Manhattan had already been thrashed by the so-called “law-enforcing” corporate lackeys of corrupt Ageira. Desperate and firmly resolved to exact my revenge out of these weasels, I lay low for a moment and, one night, I sneaked into an Interspace Commerce warehouse before hacking my way into their supply terminal, arranging for a Starflier to be set on a launching pad and ready for take off immediately. I made a run for it and, following the information I got from a less-than-recommendable fleabag in one of the lowlife-ridden bars on Manhattan, I set out on a quest to join you, the feared Lane Hackers! After taking down a couple of flimsy Ageira gun-runners and supply depots, I attracted some notoriety among the Liberty Rogues who gave me the coordinates to their base in the Badlands. There, I sold the the life pods of a few corporate flunkies I had beamed in after having discombobulated their ships and got enough credits from them to buy a Dagger that, though chronologically gifted, was a real wonder to fly. I continued working as an independent pirate for some time until I managed to get my hands on some info leading to Freeport 4 in Magellan. There, through some well-placed donations, I showed my loyalty to the Lane Hacker cause and gained access to Mactan base. My Dagger and I are now waiting for full adherence to your ranks.
I may be a bit green on the piloting skills, but I am ready to learn everything I need to in order to uphold my duties as a Lane Hacker and contribute to the humiliation and inevitable destruction of the corporate evil plaguing our society.
