I will make an off topic post, which I bet many will find correct and right.
You guys, only appreciate posts that is positive towards your group.
Whoever criticize get ignored by you.
If you wanna make progress to fit Discovery, please, take something out of all the feedback you got.
Official factions are such, they do look at feedback and at least try improving.
You on the other hand, are thinking that you are right all the time. Exactly such behaviour makes you not any better than you try show yourselves as.
I know this might get deleted/hidden.
However I am always for new ideas and stuff, but you play by your own rules.
DiscoveryGC is not like that. New guys must play along. I myself was a victim of this.
One mistake ingame, I still have people shouting at me and reminding me how bad I was two months ago.
Community is cruel at first, but enjoyable later.
My two cents.
On topic: Choose ID that will fit your roleplay. Do not choose your roleplay to fit ID.
Strangely my opinion of ORI became better every time I had any interactions with them. True, though, that neither of my characters who met them liked them too much, neither my KNF nor my corsair. That feeling of superiority was RP'd very well, but it is bound to make enemies, so it's only logical that ORI got hated by half of Sirius over time.
As of ID, I can think of three loose factions that may allow for a bit more freedom. Outcast and corsairs are two and have been mentioned. Corsair ID is used by Shaulanca's group, they have thier own agenda and backstory. Though I remember a discussion about using another ID. Outcasts I know little about.
Third, that has not been mentioned, is Liberty rogues. They don't have battleships, but they have Scylla, gunboat and white cell to whole lot of factions. Someone will inevitably whine that rogues can't afford a full fleet of cruisers, but capships in freelancer are made of little more that tinfoil anyway. ZOI is large enough, Liberty is big + border systems, etc.
From what I gather, rouges are a rather loose organization, so it has enough room for your own line of RP.

2 months ago? i have people still yelling about what i did in 2007,and even quoting me from forum lol.
As community is cruel at first? Yes,and no. I go out of my way in game to help newer players, and even give out 100s of millions to start them off.
So community can be good, and bad at first.
Also enjoyable later? This is also true, and untrue. All depends who you run into, and how well your 2 RP's mingle(providing you get any RP).

It is not that we ignore all kind of criticism...its more the way most of this is presented.
Your statement about the community here is right for many members i am afraid.
It is the same like in many factions...the new ones have to earn the respect of the higher rank members and need to do as they are told. We will not play by these rules. And if any of the "old players" has a problem with the new ones flying big expensive cap ships...hmm i liked the expression ryoken used:
Quote:let them yell till their heads explode.
So maybe we will find a base of mutual respect to play with each other and i am sure we all can have fun.
I would personally suggest the IMG. They have a large Zone of Operations, they have some various diplomacies, even with some unlawfulls. They do poses capital ships, they have natural enemies (Outcasts), and they even have inRP events to do that bring money (mining and trading). So, you could be in Bretonia, Taus, Omega7, or mount some exploratory missions to some deep space locations.
Or, AI ID. You can fly anything (allmost) up to a cruiser, you can trade, the only thing you can't do is mining! And you don't have much in the way of enemies for a start, but that can be remedied later by active player diplomacy.
