i would like to know how you can be so certain of him using this macro. he might actually have been practising at switching groups for hours and hours... i know at least 5 people that switch weapon groups like mad and still maintain dodging capabilities. Just like everything else it just take a little time and effort to accomplish.
If you have proof that he actually is using the macro's then i would recommend further actions but not starting more topics about it
"War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage."
he admit to it..what can i say...check this post..http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10698&st=0 and please lock this post. because i already got the anser. is counte by a kind of cheat..
' Wrote:nah. if you do this..you don't have any hand to make your ship to strafe to dodge enemy fire..which is not worth to do it..and it need to switch very very fast and is craszy...
Actually, that's exactly what I do, and when you get used to it it's as easy as simply pressing teh mouse button. Takes a teensy split second to hit 3 keys and the mouse.
If anybody does need help with that, grab me ingame.
' Wrote:I installed the .exe version before you created your version, so I'm stuck with the .exe version until the next time I reinstall Freelancer. However, I haven't had any problems with the .exe version.
Actually, you're not stuck with it at all! I successfully uninstalled the workaround by removing the .dll files "gls_workaround.dll" and "libcurl.dll" (both added by the .exe) from Freelancer's EXE folder, and their names from the [Libraries] section of dacom.ini which is also found in the EXE folder.
With some keyboards...Like my old one, it was built in. I could program it in the keyboard.
I have a crappy one now...But still...
It makes you shake like crazy when someone is firing with a macro, but it didn't effect my performance.
This is how I see it... A: If you concentrate. It doesn't do any more then shake you up when you do get hit, by a guy using weapon groupings and shooting like that.
B: It doesn't effect aiming its just a shaking effect representing a hit on your HUD...to my knowledge anyway.
C: It doesn't effect server performance, modify client or server side files relating to game-play in any way.
D: It doesn't Access server files without permission by the server administrator or user. (so it can't be considered hacking)
E: All it does is set timing....if you make it really fast....it doesn't work, so you can only make it go as fast as your guns will fire, and as long as you have enough energy to fire them...Battleship weaponry fires slow, so they won't be able to go that fast, unless high fire-rate weaponry is on there. It just looks fast otherwise, and because of that, it puts fear in the opponent reducing concentration causing mistakes resulting in death. If the player can over-come the fear, then he has a higher chance of winning, because the concentration is still there.
F: It doesn't effect how your energy is spent, the energy output would be the same as it would firing the grouped weaponry all together, all it does is evenly spread the load. And you end up with the same amount of energy in the end anyway. Regardless of re-fire rate, as the lower energy high speed re-fire uses up the same if not more energy in the long run because of that reason.
G: It doesn't inflict more damage to the opponents shield, hull, weaponry or other ship components in any way.
Also, if you pretend that every other player has a macro and your prepared for the possibility that your opponent has a macro built in. Then there is a higher chance you will win as your awareness is much higher then it would usually be. Even adjusting your chair or keyboard position on the desk can make a different. A lot of people don't know this. But in the long run, you can concentrate much better.
I don't know about you guys, but every time I go into PvP I still shake like there is no tomorrow. This is bad. But making myself prepared for what the enemy might have, makes me more aware of what I have to do, dodge, shoot or run from him.
Its not the macro, its the ship, the player behind the controls and the effectiveness of the ships set-up. The skilled players know all your moves in advanced. So of course your going to loose. The skilled players also know this and how to use their weapons quick and effectively as well. Also reducing your chances of winning.
If you practice a little you will win more. Marco's do nothing if you have the right attitude towards the fight in my opinion.
But then again...I have been wrong before.
"Three o'clock is always too late or too early for anything you want to do."
So let me get this straight. All this does is evenly spread out your weapon firing so your ship is constantly firing something? I'm sorry to ask such a noobish question but why in the world would you want that? Wouldn't your aim get worse and deal less damage?
"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."
There is no real advantage. It just looks pretty. And people that are getting owned by the so called "advantage" Its nit picking.
People think that just because their weapons 'look' like they are firing faster, are more powerful and make them look un-beatable. when in actual fact, in many respects its just a special effect, used to inflict fear in the enemy. which would commonly be the enemy that dosn't know what the hell is going on with the weapons.
I think it adds a further realism to Battleship fights. It looks so cool!
So whoever thinks its a form of hacking and cheating. I have news for you :D its not!
EDIT: Hell, you could even say that using a macro was using an in-game feature to its full potential.
Would an in-game feature hack its own game? LOL

Thank you. I'll bookmark this thread in case I need to get rid of the workaround.
Hm, this is weird, I don't understand why you're all talking about some software or weapon groupings. By default, each single weapon can be shot separately by pressing the number keys. I use this feature every day with my pirate transport, because the transport turret's refire rate is 2.00. The shots are deadly, but hitting some patriots, barracudas, defenders, dragons or drakes, virtually any fighter can become a problem.
So, here's what I do. I quickly press a few weapon keys, like 1-2-3 and hit the right mouse button afterwards. When the weapons don't drain my power source too much, I can keep firing for as long as I want.
Reason two: the NPC's are regenerating using one battery at a time. so, if I hit them like once per two seconds, all I do is drop their shields. That doesn't happen if I use this volley technique. All in all, this is only useful when one doesn't hit his target at all with his/hers non-rapidly firing guns.
