Quote:Your worst typos are in the section quoted above:
1. "Price" should be "Prize" in both locations;
2. "3rth" prize should be "3rd" prize (or better spelled "third");
3. 80% + 20% + 10% = 110% (I guess you're planning to donate the extra 10%, since you're giving away more prize money than you're collecting; If you're feeling that generous again in the future, I can think of many ways to spend your money).
First of all, you're right... 110% makes no sense and that's pretty embarrasing for me. Of course it should be like 70% + 20% + 10%:D...
And sry for the typos. I try my best to get my enlish better. I don't write in english that often since my mother tongue is german:), so pls have a little consideration for that.
Quote:I seriously doubt that pirate players will stay away from this event. You're basically chumming the water (i.e. filling the water with blood) in front of a group of sharks. I can already see the feeding frenzy
Thats one point to consider. Ok if there's no way, that we can keep them out of this race i think we got to live with em. Maybe it makes the competition even more funny:).
Quote:I gotta agree with Gronath (hate the Trains for various reasons - not because I can't fly them, but because they're so ubiquitous and they have that glitch that makes them disappear sometimes) that there ought to be a variety of ships allowed. And making a category for freighters would be even more fun! Camara for the win! XD
Ok, so i think it would be the best if we split up the contest in two sections, one for transports and trains and one for freighters. I know its sometimes difficult to fly those big trains but on the other hand it makes the hole contest more interresting.
Quote:If its just traders RepEx-Shipping|868 will womp you all.
Lol ok mate:)...since it's a race for every trader the RepEx-member are also welcome of course. But i think there will be a hard competition for you guys anyway. There are many traders out there you know how to fly their trains too and who also know which route they should take. But at least it's all about fun and i wish all traders good luck.
I just thought about the pirates again and in addition i got to say something to that:
I hope that most of the players, who have the choice to take their trader char and take part of the event or to take their pirate char and make a little profit out of it choose the trader because it would make me sad to see more pirates then traders. So there should be a little balance and taxing some traders (or even shoot them) isn't a big thing. Taking part in the race and face a hard competition instead is something you really could be proud of.
So think about it and don't make this event become a disaster at all. Thanks a lot:).
The only question is whether the pirates are willing to co-operate or not. Even if they aren't the race can still be done, it will just take a bit more co-ordination. Assuming we're taking a fairly standard route (ie House system --> Border system --> House system) there's no reason why we couldn't ask the house militaries to provide security along the race route.
No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.
Heh, I actually would think it would be most fun if pirates, military, bounty hunters etc. could take part. It adds a bit more strategy.
For example - Cambridge -> Stuttgart ... do you go by Omega-5 with likely more pirates (it's faster than going through Omega-3), or do you take the slower safer route... but perhaps get cut off at Omega-7 anyway?
Jumpholes versus tradelanes/jumpgates.. etc.
Also, remember there would probably be lots of turf wars between the different pirate factions for taxing rights...
And why not have hired escorts, and I would suggest hired mercenaries to attack rival traders.. but of course.. that's subject to server rules (is it ok if traders consent to mercenary attacks on entrance to the competition, in terms of server rules? there could be an offical list of players so mercs dont just randomly attack traders). That way all the groups - traders, police, bounty hunters, mercs, pirates can participate!
Of course, I am very very biased about pirates taking part here...;)

Unless a trader's rank goes down from paying off pirate players, nobody will know about it. Even before and after screen shots could be faked with software or money transfers.
Yeah, just forget about my "profit" checking idea. It way too complicated and too easy to cheat on that one. I'd love to see an event that involved almost everyone, traders, pirates, police/military, mercs. It would be sweet. I'm not sure about people blowing up the traders, though. Only in case of pirates not being paid (server rules, I wash my hands...:rtfm:). But mercenaries hired to blow transports, I think it would just be disruptive to the event. I'd love to see a line of battered transports reaching the finishing checkpoint.

I agree, that an event where all kind of players can take part would be nice too but in my opinion there are some things which speak against it:
- As long as there are no admins involved there will be pirates who try to stop the traders, so they are a part of this event anyway.
- As i've read in this forum there have been a lot of events (or at least ideas for some) on this server which don't include traders at all (or mostly only one or two). So why should traders don't have an own event too?
- Hiring a merc for shooting the opponents should be forbidden for this event because it would be unfair i think. What we could accept is, when trader hire them to protect themselfes from beeing stopped by pirates for example. In this form they could take part too.
I say let the pirates in. I'm not a pirate, but why not? gives the escorts a chance to show off their mad dogfighting skills. (I would need to get a better ship first though...)

Ok, pls can we forget the pirates for one moment. I would like to come back to the Race event itself.
I want to ask everybody, who is willing to join this event to post it here with a short describtion of his ship and his character (Pirate, Merc, Trader...). Maybe we then can go further with the organisation.
