Not just damn Anvil. The whole project had trouble before it even got off the ground. Damn Microsoft too. Their fault really. It's too bad that Chris Roberts' original vision of Freelancer got warped. If the success of EVE is anything to go by(which is a helluva lot like Roberts' concept), Roberts' Freelancer would've been sensational. Far better than EVE, I think. I wonder if Microsoft is regretting squashing the original Roberts' Freelancer concept now. Probably not.
I've looked at EVE at bit, and it just seems to lean too much towards massive PvP deathmatch for my liking. I know that there are things in it like corporate piracy, takeovers, betrayals and all that fun stuff. Always seems to come down to one big furball at some point though. Still, EVE does look interesting.
On another note.
Crossfire. Pretty good mod. Altair system. Cripes. Those Coalition-types were tough. Lots of cruising too. Several systems were trade lane deficient. And I liked the idea of a dynamic economy. I really wish there was a way to do it with Discovery, but this has been discussed before.

Yes, it's there. And many other things as well worth taking a look to understand what FL has really been about. As for restoration, I was working on getting Nomads back to what they were supposed to be, but with departure from Discovery I doubt that content will be finished and even making it part of Discovery is a question. Then again, who knows...

They have Halo cash cow, all that matters for their console/game division for now, doubt they even think of Freelancer at all.
I wish i had not seen that, my heart aches for what it might have been. Well thank god for discovery.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
im going to cry now.. if only microsoft would release the source code, but knowing them.. they probably don't even have it anymore. Which really ticks me off, there are about 500 players a day if not more on freelancer, More than halo 1... Why do they still support halo and not freelancer?
Anywho, I like the scaled up cap ships, the ability to fly around ON THE PLANETS, the first person flying, the different jumpgates, the moving wings thingy, etc.
