Other people probably asked this before, but I couldn't find anything when I did a forum search. How do I aim with that thing? I like the first person view better when in capships in general, but I am not sure which is better (or worse) when using the LSC.
And moreover, where do I find targets to train on? Are there anywhere specific where the NPC's are in Capital ships? And are there anywhere specific in Liberty, where I can do missions involving cruiser killing? I tried a bunch of missions, up to 900k, but it was all Rheinland fighters.
If you want to practice using the forward gun against other capital ships, though, you could try Connecticut. It's just a jump away from New York, and is great for OoRP PvP practice. Just pop in when other people are there, too.
I love that ship! I love that gun! My favorite in every combat! Ever bombers, really! I remember a Rheinland heavy bomber Berg-something that flew straight in my tube and I just fired it, he went poof! And not to mention how awesome is aiming at gunboats+ with it, so damn funny, even if you miss it's still lol, but when you hit you die of laugther
Edit: When I fly that ship, I just fly it for the fun
It is a fun ship. I just tried tried it against some battleturtles and cruisers in texas 5 minutes ago, and I managed to hit a turtle with the forward gun. yay. but overall the lm seem a lot more efficient - i can actually hit with that.
Are there any liberty capship missions somewhere, like there are OC capship missions in alpha and eta (+random ossie npc spawn)?
The best way to aim that thing is practice while in first person view, put the cross over the center of the screen, its hard but with practice it will work fine.
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
You pretty much have to be in first person when you shoot the Forward Gun. A guide I use is at the top, there's a little triangle thing. Just go straight down from the point, just above where the center would be. Shoot whenever your target is there, and it should be a guaranteed hit.
If you want to practice, go to Connecticut. Near the minefield is a wrecked station. Practice shooting at that. Once you hit it pretty good, switch to shooting a buoy.

While the Light Mortar may be easier to use since it's a turret, it does less damage than the Forward Gun for more power.

It doesn't have arc, so just aim whole cruiser like giant gun.
False. All guns have a minimum 10 degree arc. This is added to the actual hardpoint arc. So if the LSC fore gun has a 1 degree variance on the hardpoint, it has 5 degrees left and right swing. But yea, you need to line up the entire cruiser, so you can only do it in a direct forward assault (works best with 2 - 3 ships focussing on a single target). If you can't hit from cockpit view, oversteer just prior to firing so the ship lines up.
