Hello. I have an idea about one thing that will make more ballance, or will not... Anyway I will say what I have in mind, so you could share your thoughts about it.
In shipyards there is command that fixing lights on ships. What about to make one that fixing guns in weapon dealer? I mean faction guns, like Salamancas, Krakens or Reavers, not Codenames or Civilian. You can change refire, increase/descrease range, speed, damage or energy drain. Of cource with cost, 5 millions per gun, and no cheating like changing energy type, over 8.33 refire or over standart damage. For example Salamanca:
Energy Type: Neutron
Hull Damage: 530
Shield Damage: 265
Range: 600 m
Projectile Speed: 600 m/s
Refire Rate: 4.00
Energy Usage: 120
new one that will match TWILIGHT for example
Energy Type: Neutron
Hull Damage: 706
Shield Damage: 353
Range: 600 m
Projectile Speed: 600 m/s
Refire Rate: 3.03
Energy Usage: 160
Good for making ballance with Debs or codenames. And you will see that DPS and energy will be same as with 4.00 refire.
Same thing with turrets, because some of them not match guns of that faction, Order Reapers for example have 600 speed, and Reaper turret have 650. <---???
But there should be some ballance with that anyway. You cant just make Firekiss with 5.88 refire, or Hornviper with 2.00 refire. Or Sammaels with 3.03 refire, that will broke laser-type weapon characteristics.
Share you thoughts people. You want that command to be added? Is it impossible even make it because of game engine, or this will be cheating. Devs comments welcome too. Do not post anything stupid and read before posting. Thank you!:)
Its not a bad idea, but there is a lot of room for abuse and a lot of work will be needed to be put into it.
The two main problems I can see without putting too much thought into it are
Everyone will end up with guns as good as codenames, and that puts gun dealers out of business.
And if it is possible to adjust the damage, it will lead to even more unfair to those who end up in a battle of 3 against 1 - at least now there is a chance to do well in a fight with those odds.
With grouping the guns, so you have debs in group one and (for example) Claymores in group two, it works out so there isn't too much problem with hitting the target and refire rate/range; and it conserves the energy a lot better then firing them all at once and hoping for them to hit something.
Edit: I must be tired, re-wrote some parts so it made sense.

I said not cheating. You cant make damage over your basic one. You have 9 class gun and you cant make it match 10 class. Or you will find starbeams 1 cl. with 5k DPS ones...

Like I said, it is not a bad idea it will need a bit of work, and I don't know how it would be implemented in the game but if it was done right that could actually work out pretty good.
If it was Speed/range/refire rate I would be keen - but I don't think damage needs to be changed on many (If any) guns in game at the moment.
Have you thought about having the price go up as you changed higher classed guns - it might keep it a little more balanced? IE: Changing a class 2 - 3 gun could be.. say 3 mill per gun, and changing a class 9 could be 10 mill (I don't know, just making up a number)
Guns are diffrent for being diffrent not to adjust them to something else what they originaly aren't. A lot of stuff which you think is "imbalance"is intented.
If you want real balance we of course can all switch to eagles with flashpoints and debs with a bit diffrent skins and effects.

most guns that in use is 8 9 and 10 class. I think that changing guns sould be at different prices yes, say 8class 4 millions, 9 class 5 millions, 10 class 7 millions. 10 class I mean not codenames, but AI guns, Colada, Nomad guns. But I still dont know is that possible to make even... we need Dev here.

Hm... your words have sense, but you cant spell it properly it seems. I said dont post anything stupid and as I remember correct you always complain about everyting... And read closely pls, I pointed that YOU CANT make weapon with 8.33 refire to 3.03 refire, to 5.88 for example YES, but NOT below that
I feel like mjolnir would rage so hard at this idea.
Too much work required to make the game do this, really.
It's just not viable unless someone's managed to crack the game in unprecedented ways when I wasn't looking.

Seriously ? Really really not going to happen. Balance is that the guns stay as they are set.
Different factions, different classes, not being able to match them as you see fit ...

Some ships do only allow for lower class guns, and why not. If it was put in game it would be something different that people would want to try.
But, unfortunately, like it has been said there will be too much work for it to be done... And everyone does have enough to do here without trying to implement something along these lines.

I still think it would be a handy thing to do, only for the fact of convenience for players (myself included), but as I said before, the weapons grouping works just as well - it just requires a little more thinking.

I was just thinking about RP. Why a faction cant make different types of single weapon? Why you cant go and fix something in your weapons if you dont like it? Why you should suffer from bad guns thar you faction owns?
Im already said that you cant make any cheating weapons and you still call it ''unballanced''... Do you even understand what Im talking? Other thing is that is impossible or hard to make, right now Im talking about idea to make it
