bad thing, since the server is advertised as RP, but all it is, is a bunch of PvP
otherwise, generally indifferent since i havent played as of late
though since i have not had RP for quite some time, this causes a predicament, since there might actually be RP on discovery beyond all of the fighting
One might associate some kind of consequence for people's actions with roleplay... Not very likely to happen when the ingame situation in Gamma is doing its very best to imitate your sig. Only with more lasers involved. And thankfully, for now at least, less squids.

just maybe
Well, as an active member of the community (or at least Flood) and an active player on the server, here's my take on it:
There is still plenty of roleplay. There are also lots of "new people" who don't understand what roleplay is. This has always been the case. As Disco grows, we get more of those people, so it becomes more apparent. But along with the clueless folks, we also get others who are capable of roleplay.
Many people here (usually people who do a lot of trading) will claim that there is no longer any RP, "just pew-pew". I see that as false.
It seems to me that these people who claim that there is no roleplay on the server have a very rigid set of ideas about what roleplay actually is. They think it's all about talking. About trading. About politics. About rules and laws. About anything other than getting their virtual spaceships blown up by another player.
They think that if their Stork gets stopped by a Hacker Gunboat on the lanes, they can talk their mouths off at the pirate and give all sorts of in-RP excuses for not paying, and be let off scott-free. They think that because they "roleplayed" with the pirate, the pirate should "roleplay" back by having a nice conversation, empathizing with the Stork-pilot's stories, and letting him go along on his trade route with a polite wave.
When the Hacker has a different understanding of "roleplay", such as fulfilling his role as a Lane Hacker by demanding credits or cargo from traders, he'll press his demands and start shooting when they aren't met. As the Hacker fires on the trader for refusing to pay and/or trying to cruise away, the Stork pilot will complain that the Hacker is only here for the PvP, and has no interest in roleplaying.
This trader might try to insult the Hacker by calling him a PvP whore, who's only here for the blue messages. In reality, the Hacker played his part, and the trader played his. Roleplay took place. It just so happens that the trader is upset that he lost some virtual cash to a man with a virtual gun who didn't adhere to his ideas of "roleplay".
Did Logic Bomb sit down with traders for a cup of tea and talk about his feelings? Or did he shoot them for not giving him what he wanted?
This is one example, anyway. The pirate/trader dichotomy is just the one most easily recognized. The point is, I find that most of the people complaining about "No RP, all PvP" just don't understand what roleplay actually is.
And come on. It's all based off of a space-shooter videogame that was made for people shooting other people. It's still avoidable, depending on the role you play and how well you play it, but a lot of our RP has to be based around PvP, anyway.

Actually at times, Saronsen (Logic Bomb was the gunships name) did. If the discussion was amusing enough for him, he let them go free.
Of course the other traders generally screamed for help, shot, didn't feel like talking, etc.
While a lot of roleplay is based around the interactions of people like pirates and traders, and there could be more than just canned autoposts, a lot of it has really turned into kill everyone ever.
I haven't witnessed much more than that when I last played, but alas.
