like i promised, i will publish everything relevant about our expedition to the Omicrons, day by day.
Today, the report will contain the easiest entry to the Omicrons and how to travel to Omicron Delta, in my opinion, the best chioce to start a huge expedition.
Sigma 17
First, fly to Sigma 17 via Kusari and Sigma 19. When arrived through the jumphole in Sigma 19, you can dock at Atka Research Station for resupply. Afterwards, fly to coordinates E|F 6 near the planet Kurile. There, you can find the Omicron Theta Jumphole, the easiest entry to all other Omicron systems.
Note:
Planet Kurile is surrounded by an aggressive radioactive nebula. Though i landed on Kurile; i only took a fast look at the local structure and people there; i had no time for any further analyzes of the famouse Kurile Bacterium. I suggest that a second expedition should take a closer look on that little guys some day.
Welcome to the Omicrons, young scientists! Omicron Theta and its most important Station, Freeport 9, is the most populated Omicron system. You can meet a lot of fellow Zoners here; even the Zoner Guards who look after the Jumpholes and those who pass it. Remember to greet and ask for allowence when you meet one! Near Freeport 9 (E5), you can see the Jumphole to Omicron 74. Nothing else notable was found there. (One thing: At all circumstances: Do NOT enter Omicron Gamma; the Corsairs there can be hostile!)
Omicron 74 holds the famouse Freeport 15 and an important Zoner Shipyard in the orbit of Planet Tirane.
The Jumphole to the first inner Omicron system can be found at B 2|3. Not further important notes.
After leaving the Hyperspace, you will find yourself in a bizarre world: Surrounded by thousands of strange-looking, spiky, long rocks, the first thing you will figure out that there is something strange about the looking of the space there. Beside astronomical stranges, Planet Primus is settled by a special, sapient race, origined from human settlers. The notes contain more precise thoughts about these two discoveries.
The Omicron Delta Jumphole is located at coordination 4|5 F.
Notes:
Seeing the astonishing space formation in kappa, my theory is that it is caused by gravitational powers, maybe a black hole. Light beams, aswell as other beams, are straffed, reflected and focused by the massive gravitational centres which are located at each "end" of the system. This causes the tunnel fiction.
I couldnt get any closer to analyze this phenomen more detailed; The AI scanning told that the centres are 10exp.7 K away. A travel of years! Those objects must have the wight of more than 100 standard black holes to do such an effect, so far away...the first thing which is very interesting for my Physic Team in the Omcrons. Sadly, i forgot to take a holo screen.
The second very interesting discovery will be interesting for our Biology Team: The Human|Monkey Creatures. Landed on Planet Primus, they welcomed me, for my own surprise, very kindly. And, the most interesting thing, they spoke our language, though with a strong dialect. Psychological, they are up to 100% humans, something, or someone, influenced their physical structur by varying their genes. I suggest our Biology Team should land there personally and look after the reasons for that. I smell some Nomad influence, too...But in the end, it was a very nice trip! They even had beer, good enough to concure with Rheinlandian brews!
Arriving in Omicron Delta, i suggest to get as quickly as possible to Freeprt 11. I met 10 Nomad fighters on the way there. It is located at 4|5 D. Other stations and Jumpholes can be seen on the map.
On Freeport 1, my first day in the Omicrons ended. Tired from the long journey, i docked my liner, analyzed some samples (results will be published after exploration), spent some time in the bar and went in my Liner again to sleep and collect new strenght for my second day.
Ah, very well, Doctor! Welcome to the Physics Department; my name is Hans von Goeben, Overseer of the Physics Team. Shall we have a bright future and a nice teamwork together!
---Aspects of the chemical-biological side of the Omicrons---
---Chapter One: From Sigma 17 to Omicron 74---
Guten Tag SRD!
James and i started to a second expedition to the Omicrons. Since the mapping is largely completed by the first expedition, our goal now is to explore planets, nebulae and anomalies from their physical, biological and chemistrical side. James and i seperated the work so everyone can focus on his special field; but in the end, all our research will be fusioned. Lets begin:
Sigma 17:
Sigma 17 contains, from the biochemical side, one very interesting spot: Planet Kurile.
Kurile is surrounded by a high-radioactive cloud. The planet is characterized by a medium size and is completly covered by water; one giant ocean. Its atmosphere is useable for the human organism; enough Oxygen is granted.
Though the atmosphere is usable for organism, the ocean isnt. The water is highly saline and contains a large, toxic amount of Acids (Can be seen in the chemical reaction below). No organism is known in whole Sirius, besides Extremophiles, can live under such circumstances. The onliest organism on Kurile which can resist this aggressive enverimont is the Kurile Bacterium. Its characteristics:
- Monoculture (Onliest life form on Kurile)
- Aerobic (Atmosphere and water contain Oxygen)
- Metabolism (Metabolizes Hydrochlorid and Oxygen to Hydroperoxyd and Chlorgas)
- Pioneer-Organism (Can be used on any planet to initialize terraforming)
- Weak point: Radiation (Water protects Bacterium from radition of the Kurile Nebula.)
Kurile Bacterium Metabolism (Energy production):
2HCL + O2 -> H2O2 (Hydroperoxyd) + Cl2
(The reaction is exotherm; means, the reaction which happens in the bacterium emmitates energy which can be used by the bacterium to run their organism)
Since the Kurile Bacterium resists these strong acids, i took a closer look on its genes. It appears that the structure and the resulting protein synthesizing are completly different to anything i have ever seen before.
The triple-helix and the structure of the mitochodrium give the stability to its genes and membrans. Exact biochemical processes analysis weill still take some time.
All in all, this Bacterium is a metabolical, extremophile pioneer-xenophile.
It is possible that higher beings will evolve out of them; in million of years, Kurile can be a planet full of water life. But it may takesome time until Kurile Bacterium can form colonies, so called Ventrix.
In Omicron Theta, the first thing we saw were giant, simple organism floating in space. Such space organism are known in some part of Sirius already. They get their energy by using the radiation of the nebula and run their household with the consistances of the nebula, too.
Inside one nebula, the planet Vespus is located. Its far distance to the white dwarf (25k), the aggressive nebula and the atmospherical consistance makes life impossible on this planet.
The atmosphere consists out of noble gases like Neon an Argon, which are very unreactive. Since such an amount of energy would be needed to metabolize them so no effecient usage is possible, no metabolizing organism can be found there.
Maybe Zoners or GMG will show high interest in this planet to mine its noble gases.
Those two researches were relevant. We docked in Freeport 15, Omicron 74. Tomorrow, we will proceed
our expedition tomorrow.

Konbanwa!
As required, I am posting my weekly report of my ship.
I have decided to switch to the "Pelican" Armored Transport as it suits my needs much better.
i am sorry to tell you that we cant support your deadline of the research of Kappa and Delta. James' and my agreement not to porceed without the other one made us stop for 3 days; but i think we can move on today or tomorrow. I beg for pardon and to move the deadline to Tuesday.

I have no room for inefficiency Hans. Very well, I will move the deadline to Tuesday, but if it isn't in on time... I will have no further use for you.

.:Topic: Biochemical Rsearch of Kappa and Delta:.
Guten Tag,
i just wanted to say sorry again for the delay, Ben. Since there wasnt much time left for researching lately, the whole project took longer than thought. I finished the biochemical analysis of the interesting lifeform on planet Primus (Omicron Kappa) and the radiation effect on the nubulae in Omicron Delta. Since physics are James' field, i left it beside for him. Please understand that he has something more important to do than this secondary research project. I am sure he will do his part later, at given time.
About biochemical analysis:
Planet Primus (Omicron Kappa)
Planet Primus is habitated by intelligent, bipedal mammals. From the physiological side, they walk, speak and look like human. Reproduction doesnt differ from human reproduction. Medical scans show that their organism and organs are built like our own body. Psychological, they communicate, understand and react like humans, to 100%. Those "Apens" (APe-humENS) only differ from our kind having the skin of monkeys.
Their culture developed during the relative isolation some unusual behaviors, but none which would be barbaric or dangerouse. In fact, they are very social and religiouse; their religion is the only thing which is a bit strange. But since this is a biochemical article, i will leave out their culture and religion; maybe ill do another article in some time about that.
Like said prior, their only difference is their skin. Molecular analysis manifest that the evolution, the reason why organisms dont stay the same, took a strangly short time to turn these former human colonists into the species that they are now. Everything about functional genes like protein synthesis werent modified. For me, it is appearently that this punctional change is work of sapient beings, not natural selection or radiation which could destroy or change gene structure.
Beside some components of their religion, other clues indicate prior presence of Nomads in this system; even on this planet. Since we all know how advanced these beings are; themselves cyber-biological creations of an acient alien race; i formed an own theory:
It is fact that the Nomads watched us since a longer time than nearly 10 years, after the Noamd War. In fact, they already knew us when we crawled out of the ocean on Earth. With our arrival in Sirius, we seemed to gained their interest. Maybe, the Primus race, former humans, were experiments of the Nomads. They manipulated the genetical structure of the colonists so they can know everything about our race. Only Nomads have the technology to maipulate a whole planet. The porpuse why they turned the inhabitants of Primus in Apens is still a mystery for me. But i can say, with a high security, that the influence of Nomads caused this change; not nature.
Besides Primus race and a Zoner Station, there is no life in Delta.
The chemical analysis are simply in Kappa: The radiation causes that the molecules in the nebulae absorb high amounts of energy; which lifts the electrons in the atom hull into a higher energy sphere. They cant hold this absorbed energy for long and fall back to their prior, lower energy sphere. By jumping back, the emmitate this energy again, but not in radiation; they send this energy out in form of a photon. This makes the nebulae; not only in Kappa, glow.
Omicron Delta
Omicron Kappa only holds a rather amount of living beings. The only intelligent races are humans and Nomads. Nothing here that we wouldnt know already.
Well, thats all from the biochemical side. I hope i wrote everything you wanted me to write, Ben.
My final part 2 of my first Omicron expedition will be posted soon. Afterwards, i will have a closer look to Gallia and the surrounding systems...
