Newbies/Indies are the fresh blood here for the server, don't forget this, dear forum community - we (forum) are not alone, and we are not the only one, playing here on this nice server.
And for the set theory: Don't forget, that the set of this forum community does really not include the set of the players on the server. It is otherwise: Forumlancer is of course important and all, but the whole set of the Discovery-server-playerbase is larger, and does include the set of the discovery forum community members.
On my angel, i have asked not only one pilot, if he is a) aware, that there is a handy forum for this cool game and/or b) registered...
Result:
50% negative on a), but that is of course related to my angel job for beginners, but also, if YES on a), it was
50% negative on b), on the players rank <60. Players over lvl 60 are asking other questions, mostly rule related.
also:
20% negative on b) on Cody, mostly if some customers asked for a pricelist of all guns and an overview, and my customers are rich, believe me. Shouldn't be bloody <strike>noobs</strike> newbies mostly...
Forumlancer should behave a bit more modest please.
Dear forum community: In average, when i sort the players list after rank, and look for "victims" on my angel when i am bored, the middle of the scrolling bar is ever between lvl 50 to lvl 60.
So, in my observations: 50% of the server players are not registered on the forums. Average for all times, you log onto the server.
In turn, 50% of the players on the server may not know about forumlancer, and also maybe don't care.
Please do not claim infamy, when innocence/idioty/do-not-know explains it suffiently.
Your forum RP may be well known, but for the server RP, you cannot expect the same.
...
Some more and funny hours on their char(s) will lead the ignorant newbs or indies to the forums later perhaps, like me and many other guys before.
Don't forget your roots, you were a fool too, wasn't you?
Help newbies, and invite indies to a better RP where you can, if you think they need/deserve a better one. But please, do not prejudge them, they may only have no glue, like yourself, when you started here.
Be more modest, be more helpful. Complaining doesn't help.
One point i would also like to add. Alot of people i talked to in game will not come here because they get flamed/trolled when they ask an honest question. Or ask a question that may have been answered before they came to Disco, and get called Noobs for it, or told to use search.
The forum members need to be nicer to newer players, and try to be helpful, not hurtful.
Whenever i see a ship with no ID, or a player doing something "not good" First thing i do is ask if they read all the rules on forum. If not i give them the Link, and ask them nicely to go check it out.
Signed. I did that on my Angel char too. Half of them do not use forums. Reasons:
1) They get mistreated
2) They are web designers and are really disgusted by this website
3) They believe this website injects viruses
4) They don't want to waste their time in reading useless stuff( for RL)
Edit 2 and 3 are not for trolling. I have seen people like that
I will like to say that any and ALL newbs that I took under my wing in game never got sanctioned. It takes greater patience to deal with those who're just starting out. I always encouraged them to get involved with the community forum. Most don't and they fade into the abyss of discoland.
There are plenty of newbs and indies that I find that are really impressive. Even without being on the forums.
I've seen many officials that are worse in every manner than indies and noobs. Something that makes them even worse is that they think they are the pro, while they totally aren't.
They also have 3000 post counts.
Someone should petition me to think positive about the officials o.o
