Outcast Science! - advice, lore?

So, I've got this idea with a couple friends to put together some Outcast characters with a science background. we're going to try and form a more or less complete research team between us, and just see where we can take it.

My character will be an engineering type, more background in physics, mechanics and electronics.
One friend will likely be biology focused and one more architecture and structures?

In any case, what types of things would Outcasts research other than military hardware? I've looked into what I can with searches, but not found a lot. Of course, military hardware might be a good start.

Any suggestions are awesome, I also have some more specific questions below:

How much is known about Cardamine and its effects? Are these already well-documented or just more or less accepted as is? Does this differ between those evolved to it (Casts) vs other Sirians? Would there be room for study for an Outcast to say, improve the purity or remove negative effects (not remove addiction as this is too dangerous for Malta) to create a better version for themselves?

Do the Casts know that Gallic ships run on oil? I have an idea here...

There's a lot of opportunity for this sort of thing. And in fact, if you make a name for yourself in-RP The 81 Syndicate will probably end up trying to hire/recruit you into their research and sciences field. Currently, we are going to actually begin studies and development on the Cardimine Plague. That's sort of an intro to future plans within the organization.

But anywho as for your questions.. A lot is known about cardimine. Though a lot is still left to be discovered! And no I don't think that aside from lore that cardimine effects and details are actually 'documented.' This would be a good thing to do though. And about the purity, I think right now outcasts have just accepted it as it is. We wouldn't actually want to remove the negative effects, that's what keeps our customers our customers and could even be used in the weaponizing of the drug.

P.S. I refreshed the page and saw what Peder Dingo said. Yes, there is a strong connection between liquid cardi and nommies.. But the specifics allude me. If you would like to get into the OC skype channel just ask:)

I think its like a health food for them, or something along those lines, whereas it creates adverse effects in us.

The cult of Sirius/Oracles is currently the only official source of liquid cardamine. Both it and the 101st have been working on infertility with some... freaky results.
