just a few things i'd like to get some opinions on.
1st: i've ran into this a few timeswhere an under leveled player comes to watch Mon'Star in action and/or steal the loot from all the NPC's i'm blasting. Normally if they persist i'll leave the area, mainly because i run the risk of accidentally shooting them while i'm "Mon'Staring" (new word?). it only takes maybe one or two stray shot to blast them so it's not hard to do. i've also had them follow me though which makes it worse. this has started to agrivate me lately because it kinda messes with my RP when i have to basically run away from under 30 players.
i was looking over the rules and found this
5.3 Attacking characters of level 29 and below is prohibited. Characters under level 30 cannot be attacked by players of any level, except if they have non-Civilian ID onboard, and except cases of self-defense.
so from what i see if they don't have a civilain ID i can blast them correct? normally i won't do this unless they start bothering me. Even then most of them will more than likely have a civilian ID so it won't matter BUT seems now i'll start scanning for sure.
ok...
2nd: when i kill traders, it's very common for them to resume their trading using the exact trade route i just blew them up in. i'm pretty sure i've seen it stated that if they do this then they are fair game to be blasted again and again right?
5.7 A player who was killed in a PvP fight must not enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.
5.8 A player who was killed in a PvP fight must not re-engage the enemy (player or players involved in the death) with any of the characters on his/her account(s) for 4 hours.
3rd: i have asked an Admin about this but i thought i'd see what you guys have to say as well. Mon'Star wears an Outcast tag which is explained in his RP stories AND because there isn't a Homicidal Maniac Tag. So...i'm constantly getting people messaging me in-game saying how OORP i am, how an Outcast should act like this or that. i have vowed to answer these ingame PM's as best i can, but that meant this weekend i spent more time trying to explain Mon'Star than actually playing Mon'Star. that is NOT fun, especially when the other person is insulting your intelligence.
6.2 Out of Roleplay (OORP):
In-game tag seen before the name must match the ID as closely as possible. It is not allowed to have the tag not match ID category. For example, it is prohibited to have 'Police' tag and 'Pirate' ID.
what Tag best fit's Mon'Star? i still feel the Outcast is the best but i don't want to spend so much time explaining him. is there one that would work better, do i need to go back to ignoring the PM'ers?
correct - if they have a faction ID, they are free for all - down to roleplay of course - they can even be lvl1
second:
traders are - for whatever reason - not bound to the death rules ( i don t know why, and it makes no sense, but since i am not a trader, i m biased:laugh:) ... so, yes, they CAN come back whenever they like. - at least you re a terrorist and don t need to ask them for money before you shoot them down.
third:
in my opinion "Freelancer" - this tag says nothing about your affiliation, and only that you work for yourself. it doesn t say that you are lawful and or peaceful. - so freelancer does work fine AS A TAG. ( doesn t allow a capital ship, but thats down to your ID.
OC tag works best IMO. Just make sure you nail a few corsair dogs ok? hehe
If you kill a trader and they do the same run, kill him again and again and again. Since they don't have to follow the 4 hour death rule you can shoot them as much as you want.
For the under lvl 30 guys, they're annoying. Make sure if you kill them you get a SS of their ID.

if you consider that - happy fixing your rep:P
I agree with Jinx on this one. Though I must say, after all that NPC killing, good luck acquiring that. There's also the problem of keeping it, but I'm no expert. Wouldn't he eventually lose the Freelancer tag shooting that many lawful NPCs?
I must be honest when i say i doubt that a freelancer tag will work...
Most people that see a freelancer naturally assume that he/she is neutral at worst, so when this maniac starts pulling the trigger they will scream "OORP" twice as hard.
As for Mon'Star in general, i still love seeing him around... and i know he likes me everytime i scream.:
Ooh ..... Its Mon'Star RRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage."
Just my humble opinions, but 'freelancer' in my mind would be the best choice for 'ol Monnie.
As far as underlevels shadowing ya, I've never had that issue so far, so IF I did, this is how I would personally handle it...right or wrong:
I would quietly '//' them & warn the person that a stray shot from me could 86 'em in short order.
& in my mind, if they insist on putting themselves in danger of that, then it's their own fault for not instilling a survival instinct in their character.
Experience is the best teacher after all:)
::edit- after seeing 3pp's post, I gotta add that no one is responsible for other's assumptions. to my Gaian char freelancers are not nuetral & I treat 'em all as the 'bad guys' cause as every Gaian knows: We are the good guys & neutrality is viewed differently by everybody:lol:::

You're right. I'd even say that people assume that Freelancers are lawful. Considering that NPC faction's behavior, I can't really blame them. Unfortunately, Dreygon, I don't think there's a choice of tag that will give you peace of mind in that matter. I'm inclined to think that the problem is not really the tag, but the fact that the people who get bothered about being killed by you will try and find any excuse they can to disqualify your character.
As for myself I think you're fine the way you are. There's only so much we can do with what the game makes available. This is a problem all extraordinary characters will suffer from (you, the robots, the ghosts etc).
Well, maybe in th next mod we could have a homicidal maniac tag installed just for you. That would be rather a lot of fun.
I don't know your stories inside out, but its amazing the fear that your char can spread.
I say we get everyone together to petition igiss to get a maniac tag for mon'star.
Regarding freelancers. I have a total distrust of freelancers Mainly becuase as an outcast the seem to simply want to kill me most of the time. There is one freelancer I met for the third time today who seems to think that I have no memory.
"You are not welcome here in alpha, you have attacked RoS ships"
"I did what?"
"You attacked me in sigma 13 about 3 weeks ago"
"No I didn't"
"Just get out"
"No, I'm friendly to outca....."
BOOOMMMM!!!!

i think to have a maniac tag you'd have to add an entire faction to the mod. maybe it'd be easy to add if no NPC's came with it. not sure about that one....and what would be the proper TAG? if you were going to add one maybe just a space would work as a placeholder so nothing would show but then how would you keep from losing the tag?
as for spreading fear....it is nice when people RP a natural reaction to see or know a homicidal maniac is close to them. Most either don't know what i am or just give a ho-hum reaction like saying "well if it isn't our little terrorist". those few times people will truely RP with me is nice and i thank you for it :D
as for traders, seems the incomming "not so nice" PM's will increase.
