Phoenix is a group of nomadic Zoners who values freedom above all else. They rejected house rule to settle in the most remote region of Sirius, far away from the never-ending war waged between different nations. The group up until recently had departed from Sirius to go on a Great Voyage, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the fleet was separated, and the few remnants of the core ships managed to return back to their original sector. The group now attempts to re-establish their presence, and reforge connections with their trusted allies and other groups in Sirius.
Phoenix, erstwhile a major group of edge Zoners, are now a fraction of their former glory and yearning to rebuild their community. They endeavor to defend what remains of the Corefleet and assets profoundly to ensure their survival in deep space.
The year was 818 AS when the core fleet of Phoenix set out for the Great Voyage. Back in Sirius, the group had faced mounting threats in Omicron Zeta from both new and old adversaries. Following their predecessors, known as the Zoner Trading Consortium (or latterly referred to as Omicroners), the Phoenix retraced their flight path and set out on a voyage to a distant sector. They hope to seek out new space which they could call home, and join their relatives to pursue a better fortune; far from the war torn systems that had plagued the Sirius sector.
Unfortunately, the Great Voyage did not go according to plan. The path towards their destination was not as smooth as the spacefarers expected it would be, and the Corefleet had met significant obstacles along their path. Several light years away from the Sirius sector, the convoy was attacked by a sizeable Nomad patrol. A defensive wing from the corefleet was given orders to draw enemy fire and cover their homeships towards the next jumphole. The wing managed to fend off the attackers, but suffered extensive damage protecting the homeships to the waypoint. Adding to the woe, the jumphole on final approach was found to be more unstable than the initial surveys. Knowing another Nomad group was approaching their position, the fleet proceeded to jump ahead, but as the last homeship passed through the corridor collapsed, leaving the rear wing of defensive ships stranded behind.
The remaining defensive forces, now cut off from their homeships, tried to re-establish communications with the main fleet. However when all attempts to do so failed, a hard decision was taken, but necessary - to return back to the Sirius sector. Most of what now became the remnants of a Phoenix defense wing were too significantly damaged to go on and became a simple target in the harsh environment of the unforgiving void. The remnants had no choice but to set a course back to Sirius before more alien reinforcements arrived.
Upon the remnant's return to Sirius, they located a safer system in upper-mid Omicrons in which they would now call home. The system was deemed to be independent enough from external influences, whilst close to their historic allies. The remnants of the corefleet, using their supplies carried in each ship intended for the new world, founded Kadesh Orbital Colony instead. The settlement provides a safe environment for their relatives and families to disembark, and allows repair to what had been damaged. Currently the corefleet is anchored to Kadesh Orbital Colony, maintaining order and protecting the Phoenix family on board the colony.
Protect and develop Kadesh Orbital Colony, corefleet and its people.
To make our people prosper once again, rebuild connections with different groups all over Sirius.
Protect humanity against the nomad threat. The Order have been a stalwart ally against the nomads for many years, we will support them as best we can.
Promote the Zoners way of life in Sirius. A mobile society is a free society. Therefore we shall offer low-cost space transportation for Zoners, and those who wish to visit Zoner settlements. We shall maintain our harmonious relationship with the Gas Miner’s Guild, ensuring a steady supply of H-Fuel for Zoner vessels.
Embark on scientific research and exploration for the betterment of Zoner peoples and all mankind. Bring life to virgin places as yet unknown.
Endeavour to help those less fortunate then ourselves, whether they be Zoners around Sirius, or like-minded individuals in desperate need of help and freedom.
The core fleet acts as our mobile head quarters and home, with our members living on board the vessels along with their families. Following the exodus of our friends and cousins to the far reaches of deep space, we currently have possession of only a few large capital class vessels. Each full member is trusted with the command of one capital vessel, should they wish it. The fleet keeps away from house space and overly populated regions, usually remaining in the Sigma, Omicron and Omega systems.
We tend to stay away from politics. Any diplomacy, whether business or otherwise, should be kept quiet. Any trade or other dealings with so-called unlawfuls must remain hidden to so-called lawfuls and to others.
Members are encouraged to participate in group projects and to propose their own projects, and all such proposals will be discussed by the members and the leader.
Violence against humans is to be used only in self defence or to defend other Zoners and our close allies. Nomads, however, should be driven off or destroyed.
Our relations with people we meet in space or through the neural-net must be always be cordial and polite to everyone. We endeavour to bring laughter to awkward situations. Humour is mandatory.
The Phoenix community began as a simple, small close knit society. Everyone worked in unison towards one goal and each had their own voice. Unlike its predecessors the Omicroners, the Phoenix initially resembled more as a group of independent Zoners, with only the upmost important decisions were made by Christian Burton.
However, this model didn’t exist for long. Newcomers from all over Sirius, each with their own ideology, began joining the community in exponential numbers. With new conflicting interests between members, chaos quickly taken hold within the community and soon clearly proved to be a wrong model of operation. Other factions on a less than friendly terms with the Phoenix begin taking advantage of this at the detriment of the community. A crucial decisions were made in order to bring back control swiftly. and the structure was reformed to a more utilitarian approach.
Overtime with small cautious changes, the Phoenix eventually switched its ruling structure to an authoritarian militarism model. This ensured the community continuous survival in the harsh, unforgiving Omicrons, while allow its members to exploit the region’s abundant resources to remain prosperous. Since the change in governing system, leaking of organisational secrets and member deaths has been drastically reduced. The leader of the community now has absolute authority over all matters, and it’s operational structure reformed to several departments, all appointed by the ruling leader. The structure are currently listed as follows:
Outer Affairs department – Manages relations with other factions and foreign governments. Internally it is responsible for managing docking and section access to Kadesh Orbital Colony and its homeships. In addition, the department also speaks and manages the Phoenix community on behalf of the ruling leader in it time its absence.
Security and Defense department - Ensures all personnel and its peoples safety onboard the Kadesh Orbital Colony, homeships and all capital-sized vessel. This is the most strictly controlled and disciplined department, consisting of former Omicroner pilots and ex-navy or Order officers. Their duty also includes escorting convoys of trade vessels and control homeships movements.
Trade and Contracts department - Least affected by the governing reform, the department is led by an appointee who handle trade contracts with others and manages it trade fleet. Consists mostly of civilian pilots and the crew, Phoenix traders can be found all Sirius. The group trades in benefit of the community, allies and partners to fuel Phoenix operations and its projects.
Construction and Development department – Once operated from Livadia shipyard building ship and station segments for the Omicrons, the department is now it’s a fraction of its former size. Nowadays its responsible for maintaining & repairing homeships and the rest flotilla in open space. It is also responsible for the construction works on Kadesh Orbital Colony, with the hopes of regaining lost technologies since the radiation flooding of Phoenix Spaceport in Omicron Zeta. Furthermore, the department currently occupies one of Kadesh’s hangar bay to produce Borderworld ship and equipment technology. The goal is to fulfil community needs for basic gear and be independent from external supplies.
Research and Exploration department – Responsible for observing Nomad activities in Omicron Sigma, it group works closely with the Security department and informs of any alien sightings in the vicinity. The department is also currently working on the planet’s stratosphere and surveying the land for suitable settlement; preforming crucial work for the community onboard and securing Phoenix’s plans for future expansion.
If someone wishes to join our number, they are free to contact us in space. We’ll fly with them, talk with them about their hopes and dreams, their past, their life goals, the weather and other such things. If they seem like a nice enough sort, we’ll likely invite them to join us. New members are commonly known as apprentices, and will spend some time learning the ropes and getting to know everyone. When the leader deems them ready, they shall be initiated as a full member during a special ceremony, followed by a party with a free buffet, drinks and cake.
Phoenix uses a wide variety of different technologies, each depending on the ship's missions and tasks.
The trade department commonly utilises Borderworld and Civilian technology for its trade vessels and escorts due to its reliability and ease of repairs. As for the Zoner Whale, due to its ethos and design based around diplomacy, Phoenix found this vessel rather risky to use in the presence of the Nomads within the Edge Worlds. However, some can still be found flying or under escort in the core and border worlds.
Other departments, especially when it comes to the protection of their home and it’s Corefleet, the Phoenix utilises a wide variety of advanced technology at their disposal. This includes but not limited to GMG and Order weapons, fighters, bombers and Hathor Class gunboat in their arsenal. Due to the limited resources available in the community and ongoing works on Kadesh Orbital Colony, the Aquilon carrier is a rare sight within Phoenix. Nephilim class however is more widely used as a mobile home for the Phoenix relatives onboard.
Most recent acquirement of the Phoenix, the initial purpose of the Athens Station, lately known as Fort Scorpius was to defend the Freeport and its surrounding traffic during Zoner-Core dispute earlier in the decade. However, as relations have normalised and Freeport has increased its defences, the fort itself had become nominal backdrop. The Phoenix have made decision to re-establish Scorpius with a new name as special equipment production facility due to its close location, and open up its stores to iridium trade, in an attempt to relief commercial traffic gridlocking the smaller DMC station.
Initially constructed as an outpost on the outskirts of the Omicron Theta system, the original intention was to provide a stop off point for Zoners travelling between Freeport 9 and Freeport 5 in Omega 41. With the recent colonization of the Pygar, Corfu has also grown alongside with the additional purpose of serving as an orbital storage unit and a supply drop off point for upcoming constructions projects on the planet. A dry dock extension has also been built to enable repairs and servicing for fighters and transports ships of any affiliation, ensuring the safety and comfort for all long range convoys.
The place for fellow researchers and explorers, the station was built to satisfy Zoner requirements to fuel deep exploration missions. The station provides everything required for the Zoner researchers in isolated systems, whether it is preforming controlled experiments, reviewing secured artifacts, or simply writing up a thesis.
The first commercial investment by the Phoenix after their return, the station serves as a mining outpost with the purpose of selling unrefined Iridium for the benefit for the group. The initial purpose of the station was to fund the ever growing financial cost of colony construction and maintenance of its Corefleet. The base has now recently grown as the major trade and mining operation for the Phoenix, generating significant surplus in revenue and prosperity for their people. Due increasingly high traffic seen by Delta Mining Corp, the station has raised its restrictions to only admit Phoenix vessels and other trusted parties. Public wholesale for unrefined ores has been diverted to Fort Scorpius as the new trading point.
An important hub between the Border and Edge worlds, the station has become a significant point for all types of the traffic, and a starting point for any new adventures to the Omicrons. While Corsairs don't like such bustling neighbourhood so to their home world, the Cretans have so far tolerate its existence due to its tangible benefits, using the station as the primarily trade point of buying food and basic supplies whilst selling artifacts to any traders who not dare set foot on Crete.
The wild frontier station of the Zoners movement, the installation provides an open dock services and amenities for everyone in hostile environment. Most of the Phoenix trade fleet uses the station as distribution point for Kadesh Orbital Colony and the Order. Other Zoners, Sirian corporations and independent traders also have significant interests to ship various goods to Freeport 11, cashing in on a high risk high opportunity trade route.
The primary installation of the Phoenix Zoners, and considered a safe haven for their families and relatives. The station was built after the Corefleet was forced to return from the Great Voyage, and in a short period of time, Kadesh has grown from a small installation to full functional colony. The colony now provides almost everything what the Phoenix requires to survive in the deep Omicrons. The group also sees great advantages where the colony is located, orbiting the icy planet of Palmyra with potential to expand, it does however have an Achilles heel. Most of the Core Fleet is always tied to its location, with the price of leaving the station undefended unacceptably high.
The most significant building to most Zoners, it was built to satisfy the need of the capital vessels in the Omicrons, as escorting with trade vessel with less than a destroyer class can be too risky. Currently it grown as full-scale shipyard, providing new ships, equipment and drydock repairs for Zoners.
Primary settlement of Omicron Zoners. While colonization on first review was considered as unlikely, the Gran Canaria incident has forced most of the Zoners population to reconsider. Zoner migrants, evacuating from once free and independent world to Pygar, has cause the population to surge thousand folds in a short amount of time. Importance of this planet grows more and more significant every day, and the increasing opportunities for development has drawn on various House and Zoner shippers to investing in the booming Pygar's population.
The latest Zoner construct in the Omicrons, the outpost serves as an observation point on the system and an early warning point. The station provides its habitants with plenty of research opportunities, with a portion of Phoenix researches residing on Ragatonga studying the Nomads. With Liberty recently making appearance in the Omicron Nu, Zoners act with caution during ongoing developments.
