yea - and wouldn t it be silly when a big battleship got stuck in a ring? - in the end, each planet only has ONE for landing and ONE for launching. .... thats a way to lay siege to a planet. - just stick something big into them.
anyway - of course a ship like a train wouldn t be able to land. - the "wagons" are supposed to be flexible - it would be like trying to fly in a .... train ( surprise )
there there ever was a sci fi, but realistic game like freelancer but with a real physic engine and "real" spacefight / atmospheric flight, - things could be really interesting. ( bit like battletech the RPG, - air/space fighters are unmatched in space, and actually able to enter a planets atmosphere, - but they cannot really manouver and are easily outflown by simplest aerodynamic aircrafts ..... and when it comes to the huge dropships, they are just vulnerable and fat targets once they make a descent .... battleships / warships in general cannot make planetfall )
This is a newsletter from Bretonian research at Cambridge! New anti planetary defensive weapon constructed!
The Mega-Cork siege weapon prevents ships from landing or taking off, leaving the planet cut off from the Sirius system until demands are met by the siege masters!!:yahoo:
I have a good new dockng mesage for people with LPI guard tags-
"sorry, fatty, lay off the donuts and oneday youll fit through the rings again."
Some say that he is allergic to a fungus found only between the toes of Corsairs,
and that he is oblivious to 98% of Liberty Law. All we know is... He's called the Busdriver!

Hehehe....
We need a custom message for lolling capwhores, too: "ZOMGWTFLOL u r to big to fit. ROLF."
In the case of commie penguins, the ROFL at the end will be appended with "MAO".
I love the idea of moving the big ships to shipyards:yes:
There are many things that we have to overlook while playing because of the way the game is made, so this could be seen as a little tweak that would make a big difference for the sake of adding realisim where we can.
Oh, & John: just to volunteer a little nugget of unrelated knowledge for your benefit-
If you haven't already noticed, the tradelanes have red & green lights on both sides to indicate which one to aim for when you fly manually...It makes life easier when you have to make a quick getaway or just dont like to wait for the auto-dock
