'Codenames' set off alarm bells in my head. I've never been much better than the upper end of mediocre at PvP, really, and I simply can't cope with 600m/s weapons - which is what most codenames are, as are Liberty plasma guns, incidentally. In fact, I'd venture that the Liberty Navy set-ups are generally amongst the trickiest in the game for a new player to try and learn with. The plasma guns (or your codenamed weapons) are slow, and the refire rate of the lasers means that you'd better be able to keep on your target for two to four times as long as you would for a lot of other guns (that's something of an oversimplification, but it holds mostly true).

Also, think logically. There is consequence for being shot down in PvP. Would you be willing to drop the good techniques you know to be more original, but dead?
:Pyou got me there. However I was talking about the style itself, not about the "mechanics" for calling them on some way (EK, Reverse, Sliding, Nuke traps, that stuff). How you move, not how you nuketrap:D.
If I'm killed in PvP, I'll mostly keep my so called "style", but adapting it to counter others. That's the main point of pvp, isn't it? Doing something that counters and therefore kills your opponent while keeping your head upon your neck.

[font=Comic Sans Ms]To the OP - my honest advice is to possibly get the Guardian VHF, equip a combination of Vengence MkV's and Debs, and be sure to use the strafe keys.
Vengences are much faster than codenames and will be easier for you to hit your opponent with. I personally have rarely been able to kill others using anything but full missile setups, but the disadvantage to that I found is that you'd only be able to kill one opponent before running out of ammunition.
One last thing - work on evading your enemy. If you can strafe, turn, thrust and dance around your opponent, you may not be able to kill him, but you'll either live till he grows tired and makes mistakes, or be able to call in backup and then run away with your life.
Anouther last thing - I greatly applaud your efforts in keeping with fighters. Gunboats and caps may be easier to get kills with, but a fighter will always outlive the bigger ships, though do take far more skill to master the art of killing in

Aren't you guys named Hyena-* ?
Wasn't the bomber a xeno Waran?
Anyway, if you're flying avengers, you might want to change ships in the first place.
Avenger is tad heavier than Guardian but less maneauverable. Guardian is a great ship.
Also, I assume you're liberty lawfuls. If so, you can always count on XA as the opponent. If you RP well, you will not only have a chance to fight fair fights but also to get away alive and restart the fight later. There's no worse way to fight than trying to go 3vs1. People don't like being ganked. You might also try to join a faction that trains regulary. In connecticut, you can train a lot. But on faction training, someone will actually try to teach you something.
