... so another evil corsair proposal and open discussion for opinions concerning the ship and not corsairs as entire faction. It would nice to keep it that way, but I guess some things are nearly unavoidable. Oh well.
So this issue was bugging me for long looong time.
To start with I'll say that it's the slowest HF out there. To those who are not familiar with it's "Awsome" agility it's pretty much on par with Manta VHF. I am let to know that it also posses broken hitbox which is pretty much easy to hit for heavy fighter. But it has heavy fighters armor and bot capacity. As well as shield.
You say it has better firepower? Well 4 guns there lads. 4. Oh and a torp slot which can be count as fifth and eagle powercore which is not all that good at supplying, for example, razor with power.
So what we have? Slower bigger ship than regular heavy fighter with unorthodox weaponry options. But slower speed and bigger hitbox pretty much means it only can be flown as very heavy fighter... alltough it doesn't have the staying power of one in terms of shield, armor and bots. Nor the firepower to overcome it's opponents in face to face combat.
Increase it's shield to class 10 and bots to 60/60. Leave other stats the same. Re-class this vessel as VHF. This would let corsairs have two options between VHF's similiar to what Order already has. Still I bet this won't make Gladiator to be ship of choice, because of unregular weaponry system and weaker firepower wile maintaining only avarage preformance in speed/agility even between other VHF's
If you have other suggestions on how this ship should be changed to become actually useful and seen more often than once a month I would be very greatful to read them.
If you are a person who is ready to start a forum crusade on Sairs in general and gonna attempt to use this thread for that I want to point out that forums still have space left to create a new thread for that matter.

Agility is nowhere near Eagle. And bots are lower than those of the lightest VHF's out there. So staying power in terms of hitpoints is only in momentum. It also carries class 9 shield which separates it from VHF class, not just guns.

As for being named a Heavy fighter, it's only because it misses two level nine guns.

It doesn't need anything extra, when it comes to stats wise.
Model wise perhaps, yeh.
Gladiator already is a VHF by hitbox size and agility. Only classed as HF for having HF shield.
CD+MR doesn't make ship superb by itself. In groupfights - it's easier to hit then titan or Odin, so not a HF performance there as well. In duels - can't outturn VHFs, can't overpower by core, armor or shield, hitbox size is comparable to ones of bigger VHFs.
After nerf made for torp/CD slot's turn angles - CDs can't defend you in sharp angles as well (when ships spin around you and try to stay on side/out-of window - CDs just go straight - needs to see opponent in order to hit it), so you're left with 4 guns and MR.
Unless pilot is lots better then the one in opposing ship, most of ships will simply overpower gladiator (either by turn/size, balanced to other ship's stats or by armor/core itself)
But ehh, who knows. I'm below average in PvP. (and within Reavers - I suck at PvP; within corsairs - I suck at dodging). So my arguments might by invalid/inaccurate.

Glady is fat, yea. Currently it's specialisation is quiet tiny and mostly it's good for good MR users who can abuse insane full sair shieldbusters + MR + CD\Nuckes combo. So it's special weapons ships.
The hitbox for the Gladiator is just about skintight. I'll grant you that those huge fins make the thing too easy to hit, but I suppose that's the price you pay for having a razor and CD on a single craft. Not sure about the shield bubble, I'll have to look into it for that ship, and a lot of others. But that is low priority.
