First, I must explain that, no, I am not actually angry. There's no smoke coming out of my ears; I'm not foaming at the mouth; I'm not speaking profanese without a single English word; my decibel level is not higher than a jet. Readers, please do not assume that I'm actually severely upset; I'm just talking about something that everyone has dealt with plenty of times before.
__________
Don't you hate when somebody criticizes you for your habbits which aren't negatively affecting anyone else?
For example, I'll speak of my father and the homeless woman that moved in with us a year ago (he's still trying to get her to like him, but she just wanted a place to live).
While he's at home, my father sits on the couch, and alternates between watching T.V., turning on the stereo and blasting the most depressing music to ever be written, and plugging his guitar into the amplifier and playing with very high distortion, making it sound more like noise than music, as he plays the same few notes, over and over again, because they're the best combination of notes he's ever played, and has been practicing them for his entire life for impressing other people. He also drinks bottles of vodka, and recently started a healthy habbit of smoking cigarettes, because he thinks smoking outside with the homeless woman will get her to like him. He used to grow and smoke lots of pot, before he got a job for the city and had to stop.
The used-to-be-homeless woman has many psychological issues. She speaks nicely, but her whole way of life is very inconvenient for anyone living with her. Due to the many different issues, I'll actually have to break paragraphs to describe them.
We live in a small section of a townhouse. I have a cat who's great at hunting and killing anything that gets in the house, but he's never been outside, and hasn't ever had any practice fighting dogs. I myself am allergic to dogs. Not long after she moved in, she brought home a 120-pound akita, one of the largest aggressive dogs, right along with the pit bull (which can be sweet if it's trained nicely from a puppy). Every time the dog sees the cat, he goes nuts chasing it, happens to choose a path that breaks whatever valuables are in the room, and knocks over anyone else, until I can get it. Even then, it's too big to stop if it's feet are touching the ground, and the only way to stop it is to repeatedly throw it out of the room, which I'm the only one capable of doing, until it stops trying to chase the cat. The dog also has a skin condition that causes the entire house to smell horrible, and he leaves fur and skin falling through the stairs on me every time he goes up or down. Apparently, every time delivery arrives or I finish cooking a meal, she decides it's the perfect time to walk her dog past.
She also never seems to sleep. At every given time of day or night, she's running and stomping up and down stairs. Whenever she stops to snack, she loudly clangs whatever dish she used, as apparently 3 in the morning is the best time to clean dishes. She runs up and down stairs so much, at every time of day and night, that I can't even practice my master skill of baiting fish hooks, because she'll always be running through the room. I also can never get a decent amount of sleep, because of all the noise she makes running all over the house doing god knows what.
Everything that she does, she makes more noise than humanly possible. When she needs to smoke, which is very often, she slams the pack of cigarettes in her palm for a few minutes, before finally taking out a cigarette, apparently to "make them angry". I've heard of beating the cigarette box for a few seconds, but that's just ridiculous. When she cleans a dish, for some reason she's slamming all of the cupboards, bumping the dish all over the sink, and then hitting it against every dish in the rack as she puts it in into the dishwasher.
Meanwhile, I'm constantly being criticized for:
"Always being on the computer" - Well, what else can I do? None of my friends want to come over anymore, because the dog smells like crap and there's noise everywhere, and I don't want to head to their houses because they've all got younger siblings. Going to the park isn't an option, because we'd be stampeded by aggressive children who all want to try their effort at tackling anyone who walks into the park, and they never seem to give up trying. Going to any movie, restaurant, or pretty much any place for entertainment, isn't an option, because that takes money, any of which I have is spent on food. And, in regard to how it might affect other people: I always get off the computer when anybody else needs to use it, and the speakers are always turned down too low for anyone else to hear it, so I'm not interfering with anyone else.
"Drinking soda" - I drink a bottle of soda every week, and sometimes skip a week or two.
"Smoking weed all the time" - I used to smoke weed once every couple of weeks, until I was caught by the police, when a neighbor called the cops on me for "breaking" into my own house, because they're always nosy and calling the police whenever they see teenagers anywhere. Besides, my father actually did smoke weed all the time, and when he stopped, he started drinking vodka all the time instead, which we all know makes people so safe and kind.
"Always asking for too much to eat" - I'm a 205-pound (about 92 kg or so) teenager who's still growing, and working out to continue gaining muscle. One sandwich isn't enough to feed me for two days.
There's more, of course, but these are just some of my happy childhood memories with my father teaching me his good habbits.
I'll probably do more rants in the future.
So, don't you hate it when people criticize your lifestyle when you're not hurting anyone else (Please don't turn this into an argument about gay rights or religious warfare)? Talk about it below (or just whine about how much I've been whining).

Considering you'd posted three or so within the last few hours, I figured you might have been retrieving them from a blog or something. Might be worthwhile posting them on a blog instead. No moderators to lock threads on your own site.

I'd rather not create a blog, I'm not much of a blogger. I'm not active enough to do things like that; I generally have a couple of days of activity, then weeks of absence as I rediscover real life, and eventually a couple more days of activity.
Besides, the best way to become part of a community is to make people form opinions of you. Even if everybody decided to hate you, it still makes you part of them (although I doubt everyone would hate it, anyway. More of a 50% tolerate and 50% hate, which I can live with.

Well, with most people, they build up that forum 'presence' by pitching their opinion in during discussions or making lots of contacts. Factions are a good way of doing that, but aren't strictly necessary. They can even be detrimental if you're looking for people to recognise you as an individual - I've gone from a person to "the Bowex guy" to most people. :D

I prefer not to join the official factions. Too many chains, too much limitation on my own originality.
I still roleplay as whatever faction my characters are in, but I don't want to have anybody telling me what my character's allowed to do, how much I have to charge for my services, and such. I also don't want to make up fake names, backgrounds, and character physical descriptions, for filling out applications, as many people will try to judge me as a person based on who my characters are. Sure, I'll roleplay as whatever my character is, but nobody in-game needs to know what the pilot looks like, with his age/gender/weight/physical description. Just my opinion.
But I do pitch in my two cents for every thread on the forum that interests me.
Anyway, this thread's going a bit off-topic. If you have another reply about this, send it in a PM, unless your post contains anything relevant to the original post, please. Don't want pages of off-topic, a couple posts is fine but a line must be drawn.
