I got the game today and played for about 10 hours now. First few hours, it kinda looked like it was too easy and fast moving.
Then it became addictive and quite hard.
Really great game. Anyone who likes the old XCom games (1 and 2, not the abominations coming after Terror From the Deep), you will probably adore this.
Really adoring this game! I am usually skeptic about remakes but this one really rocks. Kudos to Sid Meier and his team!
I played all the other X-COMs and still actually have the disks, yup disks, not CDs for them.
I got Enemy Unknown thursday, and so far got 28 hours in game play. I love it.
I am playing it, too. Rocks. Started my 5th game because I always screwed up in the base construction/satelite coverage aspect. But really, lovely game.
I liked the fact that it always throws something harder at you. I have a really badass team and when I downed a very big ship (no spoilers), the new enemy type I've faced with kinda f.ed me in the back and made me run away :d
What new enemy type the baddass mind controller or the badass robot?
I have no problem with the mindcontroler my team do him with his escorts but I am kinda stuck when the 2 badasses stay together with escorts of smalls. The robot does between 7 to 10 area dmg to my whole squad per shot and got like 4 rows health- if I concentrate on him, the mind controller eats me alive, if I shot the mindcondroller the robot kills me..
My team is full of maxed up colonels with 2 level pshyhotics on 4 of them, full plasma/alu alien guns/ghost armours and one plasma hoover robot, still at the end is really really hard. I have problems to finish it on normal with safe, I imagine what iron-man people do on hard. I use 1 Assault 1 Sniper 1 Heavy 2 supports 1 robot, I guess I need 3rd support in order to survive.
Jack:
At start everything that you need to do is satellites/steam power gens, start your base in Asia and put there your 2 satellites as well, you need engineers first a lot, so take missions with engineer bonuses. Build the Satellite uplink first, then first steam power gen then build Satellite Nexus near the first satellite uplink- you would have like 7 satellites- at that moment you do 2-3 UFO loot missions per month and you start to develop the rest with the money/alien research stuff.

I installed a mod that lets you intercept abduction ufos. Makes more sense, feels nicely like the old UFO Enemy Unknown and now it rocks. I hated to only be able to go for 1 out of 3 missions. Now I can have 3. *sun*
The best tactic against that maniac robot is to handle the whole area first, leaving it to last and then flanking it from 2 - 3 sides. rockets also help.

How? I does not have this even if I got my satellites maxed out. What did you researched to get it? May be I forgot to stun and bring alive some alien or so. Now I am slowly grinding to make full fleet with EMP Alien like interceptors, got 4 so far, they take down even the biggest barge/battleship UFOs without doing dmg to the structure so I can use it to update or to make more interceptors/guns etc.
