I do not think it is wise to compare Discovery to games like WoW. They have a very different philosophy. Does anybody in WoW actually talk in character, think up an origin story for the person they are playing or try to act out emotions?
I honestly don't know, maybe some people do, but it doesn't seem very common to me. Discovery on the other hand is more akin to pen and paper roleplaying. Both rely on the players acceptance of the rules, as put forth by the gamemaster or here the admins. Trust in their judgement is essential, since they are obviously trying to make the game as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
People coming from different gaming backgrounds (mmorpg / pen and paper) will have very different opinions on what roleplaying is, which I feel is the conflict at the heart of this discussion.

Fun. That's about it. This is not a PvP centered server.

There are some limits in place.
As long as you feel the demand is unreasonable and malicious (PvP abuse) you can file a sanction report.

SilverGuns, I can boil the entirety of your argument into one sentence.
Pirates have control over trader actions and that is unfair.
Well then, that's how it's meant to be. In a situation of hostage vs captor, guess who's life is in who's hands? Note here, you say the pirate has nothing to gain. But he could have gained something if the trader had paid. So since he didn't get what he expected, he will want something of the traders' that is of arguably much lesser value to the pirate, but at the same time, is a price to pay for defying the pirate; his life.
Additionally, you have done absolutely nothing to attack Gheis' points other than claiming he made flaws which you did not explain and bringing up irrelevant examples from other MMORPGs, FPS and unrelated karma/PvP systems.
We have given you countless reasons as to why the rule is in place. Additionally, there are already ongoing discussions about the 4 hour rule being reduced.
If you wish to dispute your claim, please back them up and give us a proper discussion, not a Q_Q rant dotted with capitals letters.

Depends on the kind of server you are playing at, at PvP and PvE servers, no, you really won’t find anyone RPing properly. Now if you give RP or RP/PvP servers a go, you’ll find most of players doing so… therefore I’ll just say it’s okay to compare them as long as you keep in mind they are 2 complete different games =P

Please, WoW has pure RP servers. These are seperate server from PVE/PVP.
