In light of the recent contract between the BDM and the Reavers, I have wondered how to make this more fun for everyone involved. Apparently the reavers are paid for gathering information in this contract. Which is all fine and dandy. But what if someone goes to new york, scans, saves screenshots and then gets blown up? Can they still use the data?
As it is, the reavers can scan ships, get blown up for all they care and still cash in. If everyone is okay with that then scan away and stuff, have fun But I thought, why not make it a bit more sporty?
How?
This is my suggestion...
Quote:Greetings and salutions,
In an attempt to make the rp resolved around the reaver/BDM contract (http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=98241) more fun for everyone involved and more sporty, this agreement was written to be signed by the leaders of the parties involved. It aims to guarantee a measure fairness and sportsmanship in order to increase the fun for everyone involved.
1. Data can only be collected by reaver crafts that are part of the contract (no one else). The data has to be collected inRP (no collecting in connecticut!). Data that has been collected in form of screenshots can only be used/posted on the forum for the database, if the craft collecting it escapes to safety and is not shot down.
2. Escaping means = being out of sensor range AND not pursued/hunted by someone as part of the scanning/engagement that took place in order to collect the data. Docking during combat counts as data-loss! Docking AFTER escaping counts as successfully escaping.
3. Data posted in violation of this treaty must be erased and may not count towards the contract and may not be used in any way.
Three simple rules of conduct that ensure that both sides can rely on a manner of fairness and sportsmanship that is clearly formulated and agreed upon before hand.
That is all already, go forth, scan/fight fairly and enjoy the game!
1. This bounty opportunity is only open to the Reavers and no one else. The data has to be collected inRP (no collecting in Connecticut!). Data that has been collected in form of screenshots can only be used/posted on the forum for the database, if the craft collecting it escapes to safety and is not shot down.
2. Escaping means = Docking safely after the screenshots were taken. Docking during combat is counts as successfully escaping! (This is still of-coarse a PvP death as per the rules though.)
3. Data posted in violation of this treaty must be erased and may not count towards the contract and may not be used in any way.
I like the idea and I do indeed think it increases the fun of this contract for both sides. It does so by effectively razing the stakes for both Liberty lawfuls and Reavers. I would also see to it that this rule informally applies towards BDM pilots as well.
That being said, I have slightly tweaked the wording and also changed rule number 2. Ever seance I have started playing, docking during combat does count as a pvp death, but the role-play reason for this would be due to the time it takes to repair the ship. Even if a Reaver is in serious enough trouble to run for quite a few systems with hostiles directly on their tail at all times, to finally land on barrier gate or what-have-you, I see no inRP why said data would be lost or deleted. This is based upon my broader understanding of role-play as a whole, and applies to the BDM, LN, and anyone else as well.
I like this. Lobster's version even more so. I'd go for it. However, I don't want to force anyone. If the majority of the guys agree as well, I don't see a reason not to do it.
I just got home and it's damn late. I'll talk to the guys tomorrow and get back to you.
Lovely, I will leave it up to you guys to post your preferred version of the agreement somewhere and have all parties sign. Maybe the events/competitions section??
Is anyone still interested in this idea? I feel if it isn't posted or handled soon the entire thing will just die down...
edit: I think adding lobsters edit to the contract with a note so everyone is aware of the update would be the best idea... copied below for the sake of ease.
