Although it is a gallic core system, Burgundy was colonized very late in the 7th century AS. The system is completely dominated by the huge Planet Tonnerre, in whose upper atmosphere Hydrocarabone can and is mined. The capital of the system is the space station Avallon Fortress, which is also the seat of the Grand Duke of Burgundy. This makes Burgundy practically the only system in Gallia where the capital is not located on a planet. Nevertheless, the system has the populated Planet Nevers - a water planet with a relatively small population of around 450 thousand inhabitants, which is primarily used as a tourist planet.
Despite its late development, the system developed quite quickly under the leadership of the Grand Duke of Burgundy, who eventually became the most powerful man in the kingdom after the king. Through an intrigue, the Grand Duke managed to find a common plan with the Council of the proclaimed Republic of Gallia, which ultimately resulted in the end of the kingdom. The Republican rebels united with the Grand Duke's loyalists and quickly took power and created the provisional confederation of Gallia, which eventually became the current Gallic Union. For this reason, Burgundy is a major enemy among both the remaining royalists and the hardline Republicans.
During the period of the Gallic Confederation, the second war broke out between Gallia and Kusari. The Burgundy system was one of the largest battlefields. Wreckage from both sides can still be found in the system today - especially in Tille Debris Field. The Les Vosges, the Tawara, Shimada & the Saulx have found their final resting place here.

Areas of Interest
Nebulae
Autun Nebula
A vast nebula consistent mainly of small ice particles.
Saint-Remy Nebula
A medium-sized nebula of ice particles located within the Nievre Asteroid Field.
Asteroid Fields
Cote-d'Or Asteroid Field
A large asteroid field in a remote region of Burgundy. Remains largely unexplored.
Morvan Asteroid Field
Morvan was once a thriving mining field within Gallia, with miners based out of Alesia prospecting the field in early Gallic history, however with the depletion of resources from the field and abandonment of Alesia, the field now serves as a hideout for criminal elements from which to pounce on traders.
Tille Debris Field
A debris field located not far from Alesia Station, formed after construction of Alesia, Avallon and nearby trade lanes in 600-700 AS
Genlis Debris Field
A medium-sized field of large space debris remaining after construction of the Dijon Station. This area was also used to dump debris remaining after other Burgundy base construction sites. Junkers have made an attempt to clear outer parts of the field, but after the start of Second Gallic War it became obvious that this operation won't reach completion anytime soon.
Wrecks
La Entrega - H/G-5
The wreckage of the Outcast Dagger, La Entrega, which belonged to a rookie Outcast pilot Maria Montez. She seems to have stumbled across a nearby undiscovered jump hole. Hoping to be the first to explore the other side and prove herself, she preemptively jumped in. Her wish came true, but not without the complete failure of the life support systems due to turbulence during the jump. The pilot likely suffocated to death, and the wreckage now lingers in the vicinity of the jump hole.
