V2-lp "Venom" Rheinland Ion Compression Cannon Mk 2
Originally an experimental weapon designed by the MND in 825 A.S., the Venom is an Ion Compression Cannon, designed to deliver a massive amount of damage, at the cost of efficiency and slower refire. The hardware was inspired by other Cannon-style weapons, but the main difference in the Venom's operation is the use of the exceedingly-rare Vanadium to allow a massive transfer of energy, without compromising the stability of the weapon's construction. After nearly a decade of lab, and eventually field-testing, the Venom has been modified and reworked numerous times throughout the development process to ensure that pilots can effectively mount and use the weaponry without the risk of a catastrophic weapons failure. However, due to the lack of efficiency, the Venom is only recommended for the most experienced MND operatives, to make use of it's potent damage potential. This weapon is agnostic to shield types, being effective to all of them equally.
