An old feature that Kazinsal used to work on has been enabled again: blacklisting for POBs. There was a few bugs in the code and unfortunately we discovered another one that didn't show up on the internal server after we deployed the plugin update on the main server. That bug made everybody friendly to POBs no matter what, so that was kinda bad.
Now that all bugs have been stomped, you can use this.
The commands work just like the addtag set of command, but instead the commands are:
Code:
/base addhostile <name or tag>
/base rmhostile <name or tag>
/base lsthostile
One thing you'll have to keep in mind is that unlike the previous iteration of this when Kazinsal worked on it, the blacklist is now absolute. Before, if a ship or tag was blacklisted but his IFF was friendly to the IFF of the station the base would consider him/her/them as friendly.
This is not the case anymore, if a ship/tag is in the blacklist it WILL be shot at so use this wisely. I probably don't have to remind you that if you use this for trolling (ex: blacklisting all LNS- ships on Long Island), the admins will probably pay you a visit at some point.
This feature was widely requested and it's now here. Keep in mind that just like addtag, if you do this on a ship currently in the system, the ship will only be fully affected by the change once it docks somewhere. I'll be looking into making addtag and addhostile affect players instantly but we have more pressing matters to attend for the moment.
Side note, special thanks to WPeregrine as we used his POB to test this out for more than an hour.
A short announcement for you all today. The Playerbases will begin to use commodities again on January 7th, 2015. You folks have a full week to prepare for the change out of the holidays.
Hope you all enjoyed yourself during the break, I know I sure did.
It's been a fact for a little while that our ModDB page has slowly begun to get rather.. dull. Lack of new content has been pushing it to a corner in the mod world. Something if fixed, may serve as a beacon for curious players to find their way to Discovery and join the ranks as players.
In light of this, the Administration team would like to host a Cinematic Competition to make use of the creative juices that this community is overflowing with. Hey, while you get a featured spot on the ModDB page, there's also some goodies up for the grabs.
What is a Cinematic:
A Cinematic can almost be related to a showcase. Short clips moving from one to another, showing off what Discovery is about. Some of the scenery, some action scenes, all sorts of ingame content mixed together usually along with some music to create a video at the end.
You can usually relate these to trailers, rather these are a little more gameplay based.
First Example -- See this video for an old example on what style we're looking for might be like. The speaking at the beginning of this isn't required, although generally a showcase of what Discovery is, accompanied with some music which gives the audience a feel is what we're looking for.
Rewards:
First Place: ModDB Featured Video + 1.500.000.000 Credits + 5 units of a roleplay commodity of your choice (Basically a make-your-own commodity, within reason)
Second Place: ModDB Video Section + 1.000.000.000 Credits
Third Place: ModDB Video Section + 500.000.000 Credits
All Serious Participants: ???
*You will get credit if your submission makes it to the ModDB page
Judging:
Judging will be completed by a panel of members. Those who are interested in participating merely have to send a Private Message to Moveit56 with a little message about what being 'unbiased' means. Yes, the Administration team makes you paranoid on some matters eventually. We'll know if you're voting for a friend.
Submissions:
Submissions are preferred to be uploaded to YouTube. Once complete, post a link to it on this thread, it'll be added to the review list for the deadline to be judged.
Deadline: January 20th, 2015
If there are any questions or comments, feel free to post them in this thread.
