Admiral Aleski was participating in a press conference shortly after his speech at the New Wembley Stadium in New London, when news of the formal declaration of war by Rheinland struck. The journalists present were sent into a frenzy, asking the Admiral about his reaction.
He seemed emotionless, as if he had expected that outcome a long time ago.
"I welcome Rheinland's declaration of war. We will no longer have to guess the motives of their government - everything is as clear as they can be. We are a nation at war. They want to strip us of our rightful place in the Universe. They want us to simply lay there, stark naked with our weapons down and arms up. They wish to humiliate us and defame the very fiber of what we are. For what, exactly? Extra territory? What they refer to as "lebensraum"?
None of it matters, because this war was shoved to our throats. But Bretonians never backed down from a fight and we just happen to be pretty damn good fighters. Even now, while they advance towards our homeworlds to seize by force what they cannot claim by right... they cannot imagine what awaits them.
And really, that is too bad. It really is..."
The Admiral grinned noticeably.
"...because soon enough, Omega-3 will become synonymous with "Sigma-13" amongst Rheinlanders. They think we can't fight because we're already engaged on the Kusari front? Ridiculous. We forced the Kusari into a stalemate without our war machine running at full effective speed. Several fleets stopped dead in their tracks at Leeds. Countless enemy casualties. The Rheinland state will have an identical fate in store if they chose to continue with this campaign of unprecedented aggression. Clearly, they've made their choice.
You see, I talk the talk but I walk the walk as well. War is ugly, but if it is for the defense of my homeland, then I am not only willing to endure the tragedy and hardships that come with it, but I am also ready to inflict the same upon all of my enemies. Throughout history, Bretonians have shown that attitude to be a hallmark of our collective personality.
They will realize quickly enough that Bretonia belongs to the Bretonians. We will drench the graves of our ancestors with their blood.
I can assure you of that."
The Admiral got up and left quickly, refusing the answer questions from the media. The journalists on the scene were stunned by the Admiral's tone, which was - until now - quite uncharacteristic of him.
