' Wrote:so.. what is Far Cry 1/2 about or what makes it special? Cos to me it just looks like an FPS where you run around in a photo realistic landscape... thats it?

This game is a blast.
To put it simply, it's a sandbox game.
You choose which missions to do, how to do them, etc etc.
Hell, you don't even have to do them if you don't want, but some further the storyline, and some are needed to keep you alive.
You've got a bad case of malaria, and when you run out of pills to keep it at bay, you need to get more.
The buddy system is interesting. Just a bunch of NPCs that'll help you out, develop different plans to do missions, and there's one buddy that will "rescue" you if you fall in battle.
The fire in the game is amazing, though. You could be setting an ambush for an enemy convoy, and decide to coat the surrounding area in molotovs, creating a fiery hell for your opponents, but if you're not careful, the brush fire could end up surrounding you.
Been playing this game for about 3 hours now, and I haven't even scratched the surface. Hell, I spent 5 minutes chasing a zebra with a machete.. He got away, though.:(

Heard it was pretty good. Apparently the only gripes reviewers had were texture and model pop-ins in some heavily populated areas, but being a mainly PC game, that might get fixed/improved. Even so I doubt it'll break the game for you.
And for the 2 guys still complaining, don't be ignorant. If you're going to make a claim, make sure you at least have a source to base it from so you don't sound like a total jerk.
It outperforms Crysis and Crysis Warhead, I can actually play it on my laptop at near perfect graphics without the ugh Crysis does to it to reduce it down to a medium setting, and with a few ajustments you can reduce the popup to nil just like in Warhead.
Zygoeths, have you even played it? they ditched the Hawaiian shirt after FC1. Far Cry is not made by the same team that made Crysis (Although it would have been better if it had) they just run on the same engine (i think). Also if you have ever played through Crysis or Warhead you would realize Crysis has an really good story and the gameplay is absolutely AWESOME.
Meh, i think its definitely undercooked. Three more months of production and i could have been a great game. It has a lot of potential but seeing as there is no SDK it probably will never live up to that. If you ever played STALKER without mods, that is what this is like. There are moments that make you think it could be awesome but also so much repetitiveness and lots of glitches spoil it. One good thing about it is it took a leaf out of COD4's book and it is totally immersive which i think is a good thing. But that doesn't make up for the fact that the AI is terrible, missions are EXTREMELY repetitive, Animals cant even be shot in the head and they don't have dying physics, the fire (although still pretty damn awesome) is not effective at all and dies out after about one minute and although the enticed us with and promised us open savanna and the like probably 70 percent of the map that is actually used is jungle land. In my opinion it was released 3 months too early (got it the night it came out) and although i have pretty much criticized everything about it, its still better than 70 percent of games that have come out this year (Thats just my opinion, PC gamer gave it 94!).
Although i would never put it past Ubisoft Montreal to make an average game out of an amazing and awesome idea after Assassins Creed, lets just help they build on it like they did with Prince of Persia.
By the way the level editor is really cool, even a 9 year old could use it because its sooooo user friendly. Unfortunately like most user friendly and easy to learn programs it doesn't have much depth and you cant edit single player at all.
Im going to stick to warhead and the crytek sandbox2
