Recently I find this thing thats bothers me. I see official factions with a too many obligations and too many paperwork to do for really less gain. What do you think about it? Do you agree with the currnet official faction members count/indie count?
Can you point me out any real benefit for the nornal non-SRP, non-Invite only official faction player?
1 You play with group of people- you can do it without beeing official.
2 You got faction rights- you cannot FR5 indies from your own faction if they does not break canon RP and cannot shoot them for nothing too.
3 You have tag- so you can use /fm /fi - unofficials can do it too you really need 3 equal symbols in the name in order to do it, and tagged ships are metagamed, same with roster and tracker and ship names.
4 You get free cau8 from admins- there are people around with 10 cau8s.
5 You got your forum section and you can recuiit on forums- not reall in-game benefit more like obsticle for the new fresh ideas and new factions
6 you got 1 id and nobody can be official with the same- bad move allowing dead factions with 3-5 players to stay official like forevwer idling around or afk flying above under the plane.
7 In a official faction there are ranks and ship restrictions- you cannot fly whatever you want like indie.
8 You can shoot transports with caps - the one real in-game benefit
9 Some official factions somehow get new shiny stuff till the others get only crap- i guess it is matter of the dev skype friends, same with the 4.86 ship submissions.

So what do you think about it?
Would the community agree if there are some more buffed faction only caps- several per faction?- bigger cores more hull, better arcs- real flagships- if they die faction loose them for 1 month for example.
What about a couple of cau9 armours with X4.5 hull buffs per official faction?
What about changing the mining bonuses and have the full bonus only for the official mining factions(admin given mining laser with more bonus for the official mining factions)? The ratio of the indie miners and official ones is terrible.
4.86 player controllled bases only for official factions?
Barges only for official factons?

Stuff that motivates the indie to join.
Ideas?

I don't think new toys are what officials need. Faction forums are cool, organized and shiney, but it's also a minor thing.

You know what I love in official factions? I can go minding my business for half a year, and when I come back, they are there, pretty much, or completely unchanged. I guess that reliability is what makes me wanting to stay on the official side.

You forgot about
10): You can set the diplomacy for the NPC faction in terms of who it's hostile to or not. IE you can make your bases go red to an entire ID if there's proper RP cause.

As for your point 9: shiny ship-ness depends on who acutally makes them. If your faction has a need for a new ship line, find a modeller willing to make one. It's true that factions who have a modeller as part of their members have a leg up in this; It's only natural that people want to improve the facet of the game THEY are playing.

It has nothing to do with skype friends, and all to do with (the quality of) the models being submitted.

As for your proposals to provide an incentive to join a faction...
Buffed caps: No. Although it's relatively easy to do if you're not altering hardpoints (and just give a powerplant and hull rating boost) this would just cause more "admin granted" ships to pop up, which is what we're trying to steer away from. Besides, trade factions don't even have caps. Or were you planning to give those 6K transports instead?

CAU9 amors: Meh. Personally I think armor should be tuned down allround, not up.

Mining bonuses: Technically not feasable to tie them to a tag. Besides, people will start renaming their mining vessels to include the official faction tag. Can't be done.

Player controlled bases: Will require a substantial supply line and upkeep, so only dedicated groups will be able to afford these anyway. I don't think 3-5 player factions will be able to handle one of these.

Barges for official factions: Most official factions don't even have a use for those.

I think you're trying to go about this the wrong way, regardless. Pushing/forcing indies to join an official faction as a low ranking member doesn't give them anything tangible. It's the officials who need to generate roleplay, and actively invite, and be inviting to new members. It's the way the IMG official faction has grown this big, we keep a lookout for new guys wanting to do mining/trading and invite them in. Anyone with the will to roleplay and the ability to make themselves understood in english is considered. Most don't stay forever though... not everyone wants to play pacifist miner once they have enough credits for a warship:)

Official faction member can already boss indies around and make exclusive events which unofficial factions cant.

Why on earth would you want more ingame rights? And why should they even NEED more ingame rights? I don't get it at all.

Not in all official factions:D

Anyway, I think ships bigger then gunboat should be limited to the official faction that control said ship-line, with them having the ability to grant permissions to whom ever they'd like (who can use that ship, indies too) for cruiser and bigger.

I'm pretty happy with as it is now.

I'd love to see a faction have it's own extra tough Flagship of course but as was pointed out earlier, trade factions don't have use of a military flagship and trade vessels are used primarily as their owners cash cow and a percentage of which gets hived off to the owning faction.

I'd love to see PvP oriented factions get that Flagship. A Battleship with 15% extra power and hull.
What a target that would make. Sadly, I know it's unrealistic however and to be fair, I can see why.
