Alright, here's a model I've been working on. I was rather disappointed in the lack of a sort of true pirate ship in Freelancer. So this is a concept I've been working on. A ship with a large cargo bay and considerable fire power, as well as a cruise disruptor to capture its' prey. With the down side being very large (I scaled it to be roughly the size of the Liberty Rogue Destroyer) and slow. I've also considered making the majority of its' turrets fire sideways, meaning the ship would be forced to broadside its' opponents, with maybe only two or three forward facing weapons. For balance I think something along the lines of the Junker Salvager would work, as it's a similar kind of ship.
At this point it's not a proper submission. So, thoughts?
I like the ship and it would even look better with only 700px width.
They are links now.
Feel free to remove my color once resized, but please keep the width in mind in the future.

I quite like it. As a frigate class ship it would be pretty good. Trading off sheild power with cargo.
The tanks on the side a prehaps a bit too big tho. Maybe just have one row of them?
Also if your going for Side firing arcs. It might be cool to have the guns set into the Hull rather than them sticking out of it. Put a depressed area into the side of the ship and put them in there. It would also serve as to protect them from fire as well.

Frigate, that's a good name for it.
I did consider embedding the weapons into the hull, but the mid section of the ship is already rather skinny.

Hm, probably. Maybe I should make that one the broken one.

Maybe you could add a bay door to the flat area at the front? Make it a boarding area? That'd be cool - swashbuckling pirates knocking out a ship's defences then closing in to board and steal the cargo. Broadside is also an awesome idea. It could work fairly well too; if the majority of transports have poor broadside firepower, and this has great broadside, then if it engages from the side, and draws parallel to the victim, it should have the advantage. Vertical strafe would have to be good though, while horizontal is less important.
Awesome models though. Most of the Buccaneers are currently complaining about how they want one, but won't be able to get it for a looong time if it gets in the mod.

Shrug? This looks like the PTrans Mk II - the evolved version. What would be great though, is more PTran's for other factions. Currently the Rogue/Molly bloc has been covered, but when you read the infocard it doesn't make much sense, for example, a Corsair to use it.
Maybe if a second Borderworld or a Civi version was made, we could see how that looked?
I dunno, the pirate transport just doesn't feel like that much of a pirate ship to me. After all, it's a transport. This ship was designed to attack traders, kill their escorts and make off with the cargo. When I think of pirates I don't think of small dinky boats, I think of a large and fearsome ship. Unfortunately the only ship in the pirate line that suits that is the Destroyer, which can't be used for piracy.
As for the guns loadout... make it a small cargo hold, that is, smaller than the P-trans, and give it a lot of guns, so the pirate can swap between the low power high speed transport guns for fighter combat, and high power low speed (type 3) guns for working on the other transports.
I like it very much. If it's large, cruiser size, it probably wouldn't be unbalancing to give it gunboat turrets, like the Salvager. A good sized cargo hold (less than the Ptrans, though) and a gunboat shield and you're ready for piracy.
