A tall, stocky Rheinlander looked out a window at the amassing fleet of Scorpion drones. A few of them used the Vorzeichen operating system he had engineered, and would be leading the spearhead in the coming storm. But right now, everything was quiet- like the nearby systems were holding their breath and wondering how long their luck would last. Not long now, and there would be no turning back.
He felt that his 'partner' had doubts, and let it flow into his mind.
you are sure?
No. But if I'm right, he is far more useful to us than he could ever have been before. Between our adjustments and what the Armed Forces are doing on their own, he is even more of a hero than before.
and the fleet?
When the time comes, we'll have to pass through Omega-5, or risk a long trip through Rheinland that would certainly pick up our trail and warn them. This way, we only have to knock out two sensor batteries rather than seven- and these will be harder to replace.
you are very confident
Perhaps. But there's nothing worrying will do for me now. Is there any other intelligence data that's come through about our first target?
yes... head to the war room, the others are finishing the plans
The man took one last look at the fleet, then turned toward the inner part of the rock he could almost call home. It was going to be a long time before he could rest again.
