This is false. The victor is not subject to re-engagement rules. If someone docks with a trade lane to escape, they fled the engagement, and I can dock with a trade lane to follow them. If someone docks with a gate to escape, I can dock with the gate to follow them.
Unless I kill said target, and they are trying to leave the system, I can re-engage them as many times as I want, so long as I do not flee, die, or dock with anything.

If i was going to kill him in my own guard space and then chased him out, i wouldnt change my mind
just after a sys jump? All lights are green to go. Atack Atack!
The answer indeed is yes, it is the same situation with junker pirating in non house space when he pursuit in the house space. The space where the PvP started counts here.

Pays to read the rules more often...they tend to change.
Chris - that part of the rule hasn't changed for a LONG time.
And for the OP - just a suggestion, make sure that you get proof that you started the engagement in your guard system, so that way in case the guy whines that you shot him in regular space, you have evidence. We run into that down in O-15, when people try to take the shortcut through O-56 - pursue and destroy if possible.

FYI, this also applies to Junkers pirating. Just because the piratee jumps into house space doesn't mean they're untouchable. Just be ready to prove the engagement started out of house space.

Somebody flees from a normal system into his guard space?
Well, for one thing, the npc's are going to be all over who ever pursues them into Guard space, because by default the guy is going to HAVE to be hostile to them.
That's a key thing - if he's not, and he's attacking you, then he's violating the rules about being hostile.

Yep. One rather amusing consequence is: when somebody flees by docking with jumpgate/hole, and then he's pursued and killed in another system, then 4-hour rule for such a guy triggers for both systems. He fled in 1st, he's killed in 2nd. So he's out of 2 systems for 4 hours (except trading, of course). That's why sometimes it's better *not* to flee to another system(s) at all.;):)
Do you see the groundhog there? No? Me neither. But, it's there nonetheless.
