On a serious note: the Ou Dread is the - tadaaaa! Procurator class Battlecruiser! It is from Star Wars, and yes, I'd like something more resembling the Sabre design but this one fits better than a lot of others. Seems that I'll have to venture myself into such endeavor of making/modeling/scripting/whatnot one of those... maybe one day.

... I wasn't trying for an accusatory tone. And I was only making a guess, based on the general shape that I could see from the interior (because the Ship Merchant preview is for **** when it comes to previewing capships), and the idea that it was 'a great big Space Zeppelin'.
As for the Cardi... Eh. I still think it's a weird and fluke-like instance of a higher price than usual. And Holman (another IMG base) is a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from there (South Shields), and it takes Cardi for 540. You go to Magellan (also connected to Newcastle, thus it's on the way through South Shield Refinery), and there's Freeport 4 (what do ya know, another IMG!), and they take Cardi for the standard price of 750. Any way I look at it, it doesn't make sense.
I can pick this topic apart all day.

Most of my systems will be normal sized. Exception is Omicron-82 which is going to be bigger than Newcastle.. And no trade lanes. I told you guys I'd make a huge system that would take you awhile to explore. Its also going to have a few features you'll find nowhere else.. Except Nightfall's systems. And the system won't be plane-dependent. It shall deviate and you'll be traveling UP and DOWN as much as you do left and right.

Sorry to say this, but that's exactly what I thought people will do when they encounter such huge system... or that DS program.. :(
Commodore, think you will find Omega 82 is already done and a claim lodged by someone else. Having a
vested interest in this system myself, something that size is not practical, or particularly positive.
Its not about how many you can do in the shortest time possible, its more about quality of work, and a very
plausible story for its actual existance in the Freelancer universe and Discovery Mod as a whole.

I can't stop wandering what's with the Omicrons around Alpha? Everyone seems to want those so much... Omega-49 is out of the question, I remember the last flame-fest... hmm, what if a few of us decide to move the RP to Omicron-94 for example? Or maybe the Taus?

Big Systems. Without trade lanes, this is not a good idea at all, and trade lanes are not present anywhere except for House territories and paths between them.
It's not only about speed mode. Travelling 50K in empty space is NOT called exploration. It is called getting to some place you can explore. Hopefully a rewarding place. However, make distance 20K and there won't be much difference, except for the player will waste less time and will not get annoyed by long travels back and forth. Exception is if the 50K distance is interesting enough with places, encounters and objects that you can explore, but that's not easy to achieve... try to fly between Detroit Munitions and Pittsburg w/o using trade lanes, and you'll understand what I mean.
Systems with Z axis (up/down)? That's a good idea in general, but shouldn't be overused. Most objects in star systems are concentrated on one plane (Ecliptic). FL map is also 2D and we cannot change this. It means that making 3D systems will require alot of sence of balance. For example, objects that are high up or way below the plane should not overlap. Each of them should have a separate location on 2D map. If you played Masters of Orion III, you might remember how galaxy map looks in this game - the galaxy is 3D, and stars are widely spread along Z axis, but if you look from the top all stars and paths between them are obvious. None of them overlap. Should be like this when including 3D system into Freelancer.
Its going to be big, yes Igiss, but it will be high-density. Granted, there will still be 50-60K between planets at least, but there will be bases and objects between and around them. So it won't just be a system that was made way to big.
To Nightfall; I'd do it for an Omicron Around Omicron Theta, but the only one there is is Omicron-74, the Zoner Gaurd. Until Igiss adds another empty system around Theta, I can't make it there. Since its a Zoner/Outcast system, if I can't put it next to Zoners, I'll put it nearby, and next to Outcasts.
