I understand that recent troubles between yourself and the Bretonian government has resulted in some sort of diplomatic backlash from the LPI- towards house Bretonia. Whilst it is true that the LPI- had, to my knowledge, no standing agreements with Bretonia, this concerns us greatly as it could impact future relations. As ties with the Kingdom of Bretonia are already strained, we would like to retrieve all the information that we can in order to make an evaluation of the circumstances.
We would like to retrieve the data directly from you, rather than the LPI-, as their position on the matter has already been made clear by their Chief.
I also understand that you are a Libertonian citizen. Thus, if possible, we will act in your defense on a national level if there is cause to do so. Being a Libertonian confers more than just a place of residence or birth, after all.
I am pleasantly surprised that the Libertonian government has taken an interest in the matter. I do understand your concern with regards to the LPI, and I can assure you, as the situation has been resolved with the Bretonian government, in no small part thanks the the fine work of our legal council, the LPI will be resuming any and all needed cooperation with Bretonia. Unfortunately, the situation seems not to stop there. It seems the root of this problem is a group that has decided to defame and slander both my name personally, and the name of IND in general. While normally slander would not bother, this case has cost me 15 million credits in fines to the Bretonian government, as well as putting my personal safety, and that of my crew at risk. The heart of this matter is the Colonial Republic.
As you know, for years, the IND was as company headquartered and registered in Liberty. During that time, we negotiated a contract for trading rights with the Colonial Republic, which gave us authorization to trade and move in the Colonial Republic system of Tau 44. Complying with Libertonian Corporate laws on trade with Foreign nations, we submitted a copy of the original contract to the Libertonian government. A copy of the original transmissions between our spokesman Jonathan Winchester and the Minister of Commerce for the Republic at the time can be found here : http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=49333&hl=
We were notified by the Bretonian government that the Colonial Republic had told them that no contract had ever existed, and that we had forged the deal, and hacked into the systems of the Colonial Republic. This is obvious slander. I am giving you access to the transcripts of the legal proceedings between the IND and the Bretonian government, you can find it here : http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=86303&st=0
As you can imagine, I was confounded by this turn of events, and tried to understand for what reason the Colonial Republic would do such a thing. I sent a transmission to the government of the Republic, expecting to be told there was some terrible misunderstanding. To my surprise, I was told that the IND was being accused of hacking the Colonial system to create forged documents, and these lies were being passed on to the Bretonian government in an attempt to criminalize me personally. I am providing you access to the transmission from myself to the Republic, you can find it here : http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=45070 If the Colonials were saying such things to my face, I can only imagine the lies they were telling the Bretonians.
It was only with the work of the IND's fine legal staff that I avoided a considerable sentence in a Bretonian prison. While I dont want to both the Libertonian government with the problems of a single man, I find myself in an awkward situation. I find myself at odds with a government, with a nation. How is one man supposed to defend himself against the lies of an entire nation? How is one man supposed to defend himself against the Colonial Republic?
Mr. McKay, I thank you for your time, and that of the Libertonian government, and I will gladly take any advice or support you and your office may be able to provide me with.
This is very troubling. From those transcripts that you have provided us, it can immediately be seen that the Bretonian government may have acted upon false information. Assuming that the information which you have provided on the initial agreement with the Colonial Republic is not forged as they claim it to be, and there is no evidence to suggest that it is, this is a case of wrongful defamation of a firm's image. This I'm sure you know.
In my amateur understanding, the Bretonians do not bear the majority of the blame here. As you said, the CR are the root of this problem. We will begin our own investigation based on your evidence. I assume that a representative of the CR will also be called up to present their case for why what they appear to have said in the past no longer exists. What the president of the Colonial Republic appears to have said to you, that it was "lost in transition" and thus never existed will not wash in a court of law. They have an obligation to honour past agreements. That also appears to be a tacit admission that he does not know whether the information is forged or not. Both conditions lead me to believe that, at the very least, the Colonial Republic are not a good partner to have in business.
I will make a phone call to the Magistrates Office at once to ask for advice on how to proceed. I'm many things, but a barrister is not one of them.
For now, you have already done the best thing. Settled your debts, absorbed the fairly meagre fine and moved on. I know that your reputation is more important than the credits involved, and thus why I feel it is best to protect the image of a company who for so long represented the business interests of Liberty; and to a large extent, still do. If this issue moves to court, please bear in mind that you may be called up as a witness in a legal case that I assume will be between the Colonial Republic and the Republic of Liberty on your behalf.

Well there is sufficient grounds for a defamation case to be filed with this court. As the Colonial Remnant does business in and through Libertonian Territory. Also Neural Net's Headquarters, as you know, is located in Liberty, and the accusation made by the Colonial Remnant Government does affect the good name and reputation of Neural Net itself.
I cannot, for the sake of impartiality, say whether Mister Jethro's case would be successful, that depends upon the evidence presented, however I do feel that there are suitable grounds for litigation to proceed.
I must, however, stress the difficulties in prosecuting a case against foreign interests, especially armed ones.
This matter is for Mister Jethro to decide, do you wish to file a suite against the Colonial Remnant for Defamation of character? Will this be a class-action suite with the IND and Neural Net corporate entities filing simultaneous motions?
Thank you.
Right Honourable Ms. Goethe, 4th circuit judge Presiding
Thank you for your valuable time. I would like to proceed with this case on with Myself, Jonathan Winchester III, and IND as an corporate entity as plaintiffs.
I, Mr. Winchester and various IND executives will make themselves available for depositions as needed in the case.
